My son was born last night at 9:14 p.m. 20 inches long, 8 pounds, 15.6 oz.
I ended up with a RCS due to low amniotic fluid. I could have refused, but it didn't look like I was anywhere near going into labor soon, and I didn't want to risk waiting TOO long. Ironically I started having some regular uncomfy contractions as they were wheeling me into the OR.
But still, I'd had some the night before, and my cervix was still hard and high.
My doula came with us, and made sure as much of our birth plan was honored as was possible. So far the hospital has been very accomodating. Calum hasn't left our room yet, no bath, no vit K, they delayed the eye ointment [state law, apparently] until after I'd nursed, I got to touch him and we took pics of him right there in the OR.
Nursing is going well. He peed on teh floor of the OR before they could diaper him. And he's already had a poopy diaper and 2 wet ones. And unlike my other son, he nurses, falls asleep, and then UNLATCHES AND STAYS ASLEEP!!! I hope this trend continues. He also has a much stronger suck than my other son did, and isn't drowsy, so I think that's making a diff. I look forward to my milk coming in.
I'll probably get to go home on Friday. My sis is coming up today to take care of my other son, and my parents will be coming for the weekend. It'll be busy, but I look forward to seeing everyone.
Here are a few pics; hope that works.
