Overdue and no pre-labor signs

I was due on May 16. I know it's perfectly normal that the baby hasn't come yet (especially since it's my first), but I'm feeling discouraged because I've had no signs that labor will ever start. I might have had a few BH, but I'm not even sure of that. Anyone else in the same boat?

I had an appointment with my midwife yesterday and she said she could do a pelvic exam, but I declined since none of the information is predictive in terms of timing. Now I'm wishing I'd gone for it so I'd know whether anything is happening.

I'm 9 days overdue - have had lots of "labor" - and still have no baby. So, I understand your frustration. It's probably best that you didn't get the info because honestly - it means squat. People can be a five centimeters for weeks, and others can go from 0 to 10 in a few hours. Hang in there.

My ultrasound due date (the one we're going by) is tomorrow. However, by LMP, I should have been due May 6th. It was hard getting it into my head once the 6th came and went that it was clearly not the right date.

I haven't had any internal checks, though my 40 week check-up with my midwives is today. Admittedly I'm a bit curious, but I don't want to get my hopes up OR get discouraged by whatever they find, so if they ask I'll probably decline.

Sorry you're feeling discouraged!

I was 40 weeks on the 16th too. I went into labour with my DD at 40 weeks, 1 day so I really wasn't expecting to be still pregnant. I have actually had a few short runs of contractions here and there, but nothing that would indicate I wont still be pregnant in another week.
Aaargh, it's frustrating isn't it? My MW wouldn't do an internal unless I asked her and tbh I doubt she would even then (not that I would want her to anyway).

I'm currently 41 weeks 5 days and so far, very few signs of impending labor. I've had some strong Braxton Hicks but those have been coming and going for at least two months now. I did agree to a vaginal check at my last appt (this past Monday) and was not at all dialated and only slightly effaced. My doctor is being pretty good about letting me wait things out since baby and I are still healthy but he doesn't want me to go too much longer and so, has scheduled a repeat c-section for Tuesday May 26. I'm trying really hard to remain positive but must admit, at this point I'm feeling pretty frustrated and it really is very difficult to wake up every morning only to find I'm still not in labor. I just had another adjustment at the chiropractor today and am hoping that kicks something into gear. I feel for all of you ladies - just keep reminding yourself that the due date really means nothing and sooooo many women go past it and still give birth to happy, healthy babies naturally.

Was due the 17th so right there with you. Really have not had anything and this is my 3rd LO. I am just living life like I am not preggo otherwise I might go crazy. I even went to the zoo an hr in the opposite direction of where the hospital I am suppse to go to which is 90 mins away. Still nothing even after walking over 2 hrs. They will come when they are ready unless we opt to force them out.

That was my due date too and this is my 2nd baby and no baby yet for me!

If it helps, you're way more likely to have prelabor with a 2nd or more baby than your first. My first was 40 +6 and I didn't have any good contractions, mucus, or bloody show before I actually went into labor with her.

For as much as it sucks, it may actually be better that you're not having a bunch of exhausting prelabor that turns into nothing. If you can, it would help to focus on how good you still feel!

I'm pulling for you! and me!

Thanks for the support everyone. I like the idea of thinking of my due date as the 26th. I'm definitely also trying to stay focused on how good I still feel (which is quite good) and treat this time as a vacation since my maternity leave started on Monday.

I'm due today (EEK!), and been having BH contractions, pressure lower down, back pain, a migraine, increased CM, and that horrible period pain feeling. Can't be long now I hope.

It's a good attitude to have! It's hard because it's so exciting to think about!

I'm due today (due date #2!) and lost a bunch of mucus plug last night (again) and have been cramping/lots of pressure all last night and this morning. Either way, something has gotta happen soon!

I had a migraine Sunday night and was wondering if it could be a sign that labor is coming soon. I had three migraines between weeks 4-6, then nothing until the one on Sunday...

I'm now a week past due. My first came 3wks early so this is very very different for me. I have been having tons of BH, but I've been having them for the last 6 months so its not anything new. I've had a little bit more discharge, and one night I thought I had some real ctx, but now I'm wondering if I just dreamed it, other than that nothing. I didn't get checked last week, but I will tomorrow. I'm having a hard time still being pregnant.

My first child was 1.5 weeks 'late' and I had no symptoms beforehand either. It was hard, but I just kept reminding myself that my life would never be the same again after the baby did come. Enjoy your last few days as a 'singlet' and a couple (assuming you have a DP) because you can't get these days back!

And I'm sorry, I know it's hard to wait!

I was due on May 7, and since hitting my 42 week mark yesterday, the pressure has dramatically shifted. My midwife is doing non-stress tests every couple of days. I am 50% effaced and about 1 cm dilated. She says my cervix is pretty soft, the only curious thing is that although the baby was at -1 station a couple of days ago, it was a little higher yesterday. She did a membrane sweep, and I've tried pretty much all methods of natural induction, with the exception of castor oil.

She, and members of my family, are starting to get nervous. I don't feel like it's such a big deal because I still feel pretty great, and 42 weeks isn't that far past... My biggest issue now is dealing with everyone else's stress! She's having me go for an ultrasound (my first one) on Wednesday, so I am just hoping that this lazy baby decides to come by then.

Anyone in a similar situation? I really was content to just wait things out until I started dealing with these external pressures!

I had ABSOLUTELY no signs before labor started in both of my pregnancies. I walked 2-4 miles daily, and still nothing. I gave birth 14 days after ds1's edd and 15 days after ds2's edd.

Both times, I was dialated to 4 (or more) at the onset of labor...the first labor was 46h, start to finish. The second was 2h45m, start to finish...

The first due date they gave me was May14...that's past and gone and then we calculated again and my midwife said the new edd was May 21st...

Seriously, I start to give up. It feels like this baby doesn't want to come out and there is so much pressure from all the relatives and family. I have to hide away in the house cause I can't deal with the 'YOU ARE STILL PREGNANT?" comments...argh!
