Your best bet would be to just puree fruit and thin out with some water.

Yep. I did watermelon ones last year that my boys loved.

You can also use herbal teas, chamomile and mint are two favorites. Rooibos would be good too.

Last year we made our own "fudgesicles" by pureeing firm organic tofu, coconut milk and some homemade chocolate syrup - they turned out really yummy.

I just freeze leftover smoothie. My base is coconut milk, banana, and greens (kale, collard, spinach), with whatever fresh or frozen fruit I have, blueberries, strawberries, mango, etc.

I just puree whatever fruit I have on hand, thinned down with whatever juice or "milk"(usually rice or soy) that I have. I might add stevia or honey to sweeten a bit. Sometimes I even add a packet of emergen-c in the mix for extra vitamins.

My girls' favorites are:

strawberry or strawberry and a banana with orange juice, or with milk instead of orange juice.

peaches and raspberries, sweetened and with milk or coconut milk.

Crushed pineapple or pineapple juice with coconut milk.

We also make fudgesicles with cocoa powder and coconut milk as the base, sweetened with honey. We've also made the same with a banana added. Very yummy!

My kids had smoothies as a snack today and I made the leftovers into popsicles. One smoothie had blueberries, apple, banana and water/ice, other had coconut yogurt, banana, chocolate chips and water/ice.

I also do leftover smoothie, but sometimes we just freeze grape juice that's been watered down a bit.

Smoothie creamsicles here...cantaloupe, a little bit of OJ, and plain yogurt. A touch of honey works nicely. The kids like this for a smoothie, but they love it as a creamsicle.

Def. use smoothies here for popsicles!

We love 'Popeyecicles' here, too. Just add spinach (or any other leafy greeen-kale is a fav. here) to your smoothie. If you have kids who would be weirded out by that, make chocolate banana Popeycicles. The chocolate helps to hide the green stuff. My kids put the green in themselves, now.

When it's really, really hot and we're outside alot, I'll make Gatorade into popsicles, too. We live in Texas so popsicles are a staple in the late Spring/Summer here. They are unlimited, too, so I like to do lots of healthier ones, and then let them have some junkier ones like the Gatorade too.

We use leftover smoothies for our popsicles as well. I've also made them just with plain yogurt, honey, and whatever fruit I have around the house (you can even leave out the honey depending on what fruit it is you are using). I saw on one of the kid shows where they just took bananas, painted them with a little honey, rolled them in granola then froze them which I think my kids would like (I hate bananas so I haven't made them yet).

My mom always made us jello popsicles when we were kids. I usually don't have freezer space for them, but maybe this summer I'll use some of the ideas from this thread.

People use recipes for popsicles? I just pour whatever juice I have in the mold.

Our favorite here is one mango, one banana, half cup of orange juice, a handful of ice cubes in the blender until liquid. Freeze it in molds and yum!!! We call them smoothie pops! (Or you can just drink the smoothie....)

I usually blend together some kefir or yogurt with fruit and a little juice.

Yeah, me too, but to be honest they're really not all that impressive. I couldn't even really blame DS for whining when I said not to store bought, let's make them at home, like it would be so fun!!! I never thought to try pureed fruit or leftover smoothie instead - that sounds so much better. Richer, tastier - and healthier!

When I was a kid my mom made sugar free jello popsicles for me because the pedi put me on a diet when I was 8. I hated and despised them... I think it's put me off home made popsicles ever since. To me home made popsicles say "You're a fat kid who doesn't get real treats..."

I put some pear nectar in my popsicle molds and they are pretty tasty! My 4 yr old likes them (and so does my DH!)

For homemade popsicles we blend plain yogurt with fruit (blueberry and strawberry!) with flax seed and a touch of honey, molasses, or rapadura sugar. One tip for toddlers is to only fill the mold about halfway since a full popsicle is too top-heavy for little hands to hold onto. Dirt and sand covered popsicles aren't much fun!!
