Maple leaves??

I don't know if this is the best forum or not, but...are maple leaves poisonous? I can't keep ds2 from chomping on the things every time he sees them!

I would have to say definitely no, since I have a rye bread recipe that calls for the bread being baked on a maple leaf

That's a relief. I thought they were probably okay, because he hasn't ended up curled up with a stomach-ache or vomiting or anything. It's just a bit unnerving how much this kid loves maple leaves.

Mind you, he's the one who thinks that ants are yummy. When my sister laughed that off with, "oh, well - good source of protein", he proceeded to eat another bug, and now chases them, saying, "yummy - protein!". *sigh*

My DD1 ate quite a few as an infant, and she's fine.

This is all reassuring. I've never been particularly paranoid about little kids stuffing things in their mouths. DS2, however, is in a league of his own. If I've ever met a kid who is destined to poison himself before puberty, it's this one! It's kind of scary sometimes...

I bet he'd just love honey ants. ETA: Err, link, before anyone thinks I'm talking about some old family recipe or something.

Yes - he probably would. If he ever finds one, I hope I'm not around to see it. I'm a lot more squeamish than he is.
