I guess I got lucky...Franklin loves the bath. He doesn't cry until you try to take him out!

I always keep the diaper bag packed. It's a rule. There are outfits in there that he's probably never worn because they've never been out of the bag.

I keep snacks around the house...for me. Never know when he's going to HAVE TO NURSE THIS VERY SECOND.

For diaper irritation I use cornstarch...and for rashes caused by high acid levels (we had this problem for a little while) try Aquaphor and liquid Maalox. Seriously, it's exactly what the doctor told my mom to use on me. It works wonders! When it got really bad he would calm down the second it was applied.

like mix them together? weird. who'd a thunk it? I could see the aquaphor protecting against the skin absorbing more acid, but liquid Maalox? You learn something new every day!

Yep, equal parts. You take Maalox for heartburn right? So, it makes sense that it would help neutralize whatever acid is there. Well, it made sense after she explained it to me

i might have to try that. dds bum is always red, and right now she has a raw red spot . she always has diaper cream off, but that doesn't seem to help much.

He had the same thing for awhile (raw spot and all) and this mix helped

Yup, we've eaten ALOT of carrots!

I agree with the keep diaper bag that goes packed...with wrap bag ontop so I don't forget to bring it with.

Take a nursing bra into the shower with me and wash it with mild soap then leave hanging in shower to dry. I only have 4 so this is a MUST for a clean bra everyday! I had to use a sports bra one day and never made that mistake again!!!!!

I keep the diaper bag we got from the hospital with all necessary baby items, change of cloths, diapers, wipes, saline solution, sucker, burp rag, hat, blankie, nursing pads, gripe water, socks, etc And tote that around the house from room to room so everything is with me.

Moby wrap is a MUST...but I'm searching for a less hot wrap/mei tei for summer. She loves to nurse and sleep and stare in her moby

Caldescene zinc oxide and cornstarch powder...works great with CDing and keeps diaper rashes away.

nak
fyi re: diaper rash. a sort of red ring around the anus is indicative of food allergy. most common allergies at this point that get thru bmilk are milk, gluten, and egg.

Most hospitals call this mix 'Magic Butt Cream'.
You can get a pharmacist to mix together.

I find it really helps if I always pat dry the bum after wiping.

i keep a change of clothes for each kiddo and myself in the car (well for me i only keep a change of top). That way if i get spit up, pooped or whatever on when i'm out i can change my top. It's important since we live 20 minutes away from the town i go to for groceries, and everything else. Also that way in case LO messes up clothes in diaper bag i always have clean in the car.

hmm pretty much all the helpfulness i am, other than that i'm still adjusting, so maybe more to come later
