DH and I have a thing for quirky fun documentaries. There a couple of ones we have seen over the past few years that have been great, Gothem Fish Tales, one about KISS tribute bans, Trekkies. Any one have something in the same vein to suggest. We are looking for fun and to get laugh, nothing ot heavy.

I have seen this one too! I loved it.

I thought Kinky Boots was fun. I'm not sure it's truly a "documentary", but it is a true story.

American Movie is pretty fun, about a very determined would-be indie filmmaker -- and the disc includes the entire movie that he ends up making!

Errol Morris' The Gates of Heaven--about a family who runs a pet cemetery--is definitely quirky, and one of our favorites. And I have to second American Movie! Trekkies was hilarious--the woman who goes to work in costume!

American Mullet is pretty funny

My favorite quirky lighter documentaries are:

American Movie -I actually own this DVD-- one of the best!
I Like Killing Flies
Danielson: A Family Movie
Grey Gardens
Rock School
Darkon
Project Grizzly
In the Realms of the Unreal
Growin' a Beard
Okie Noodling
Gengis Blues

Super High Me is freaking hilarious...

My favorite is King of Kong - it's about two guys trying to beat the Guiness World Record for the arcade game, Donkey Kong. It is so fun and oddly riveting.

The Confederate States of America is awesome. It's a mockumentary about America after the SOUTH won the Civil War. There are fake commercials and everything. Hilarious in some parts, but very thought-provoking.

oooh - I love these too. Thanks for all the suggestions. I have Grey Gardens in my netflix queue, it looks quirky but not fun.

Oh hey, I forgot Wigstock! And there's Mad Hot Ballroom, but I was a little disappointed by that one.

We just saw Heckler. Which was pretty good. I borrowed a copy of young at heart from a friend and next up is super high me. Keep em coming!

Dh is a vintage video game geek. We will have to check this out!

This one isn't as grim as the Netflix synopsis leads one to believe but I will agree that it is not "fun", but it does have some funny moments.

Not quirky but I liked Spellbound.

Some others are:

Radiant City
Monster camp
Darkon ( one of my favs as well)
10mph
Jesus camp ( just interesting)

Ones that are still good but a bit heavy:
God grew tired of us ( signed myself the next day to tutor ESL; it moved me that much)
Crazy Love ( it sure was)
