no i don't expect or even want my three year old to buckle herself. i do the buckling, and i always pull on the straps to make sure that latch really "took". what i want is her butt in the seat, and it would be real nice if her arms went through the straps, although i usually have to do this myself. of course the latch between her legs is almost always buried under her butt, so i still have to dig this part out too. she's front facing now but in the center position of the car. so i'm sitting on the edge of the seat. i'm pregnant, and i don't like to sit down there, stand up while she horses around, sit down and negotiate, etc. i want her in the seat, so i can sit once, buckle her with minimal delays, and get up and go in the front seat.

as for me, i'm also usually dealing with two dogs, one who is extremely elderly and sleeps in the garage during the day because the floor is cool. she's right by my car, so i have to make sure i don't back onto her. the other dog thinks she's going for a ride everytime we go somewhere, and i try to get her out of the garage so she doesn't run out when i open the garage door.

then DD has to be the one to push the button to open the garage door, or she flips out. all in all, it's almost always tiring for me to load her into her car seat. ugh.
