Help! I think I have aphids!

I discovered tiny red bugs on my tomato plants today. One plant has a lot (maybe 2 dozen?). The other two plants have a couple on each.

What do I do? I've never seen these before!

All the aphids I've seen are green but I think they come in red and white too. They could be spider-mites. Either way, a spray of soap and water or one based from chrysanthemums (pyrethrin is the chemical compound) will get rid of them. I picked up some of the latter at our garden center for my aphid problem and it works great

aphids can be pink, too.

My aphids are white or green but they're pretty easy to get rid of with a blast of water or sometimes I use Pyola which is a broad-spectrum insecticide like MidnightCommando mentioned, but b/c it's broad-spectrum I'm pretty careful with it. I mostly just use it on my roses.

We've used Dr. Bronners soap diluted and sprayed on. But a powerful enough stream of water can wash them off too without any extra chemicals at all.

you can sometimes find live lady bugs for sale at garden centers. They LOVE aphids!
