Eggs 4 out of 7 days - too much?

DS has been wanting eggs about 3 to 4 days a week for breakfast and one time, he had them for dinner. Is that too much? H seems to think so. He doesn't think it's healthy for DS.

I dont see why it would be a problem. Eggs are a cheap source of protien and fat, which toddlers and growing children need. Is H afraid that it will raise his cholesterol? That myth has been disproven for years, and again, the brain is made of fat, an organ which is quickly growing in children. Remember that breastmilk contains tons of fat and cholesterol.

I don't know what kind of eggs are available where you are, but we get those imported "American" white eggs which are small, pale (on the inside) and not very fresh. Puerto Rican eggs on the other hand, are fresh, large (really really large), dark and very tasty. I'm not saying all eggs from the US are like that, I'm just saying that those are the eggs you should avoid since they are washed/rinsed in chemicals and stamped with ink. Ick. The eggs I get are dirty, and sometimes even have a piece of feather stuck to them, they are definitely not washed

I would recommend finding fresh eggs like this, perhaps from a farmer, or you could raise chickens yourself if you could. But on the whole, it's better that your child like eggs, which are real food, than other stuff that kids eat which I can't even classify as food (lunchables, juice water, garbage cereal, etc )

What would your DP prefer your LO eat for breakfast?

Of course, eggs are only as good as the source, so i search out fresh pastured eggs from a local farmer - they're unwashed when I get them. But even if all you can get are supermarket eggs, eggs are a much healthier option than say breakfast cereal.

There are weeks where I'm eating eggs 7 days/week, at least 2/day. It's much healthier than many other things I can be eating. They provide my body with the fuel it needs to get through to my next meal much better than any number of other things I could name.

A reasonable amount of eggs really is perfect nutrition, 1 or 2 eggs every single day would be just fine. Farm fresh, free ranged ones are best. The high Omega but factory farmed ones I feel pretty good about too when I must downgrade.

That. Eggs are very good for you and they're wonderful for children. My almost 3 year old asks for eggs at least once a day.

My 9 yo ds eats three raw (pastured, soy-free) eggs a day in a smoothie.

I'm hoping that my kids will develop a sense for what real foods they want, craving what their bodies need. The only exception I can think of is if I saw signs that kiddo was intolerant and was craving the food for that reason.
