eyelashes

Has anyone tried dyeing their eyelashes? I have very pale lashes and would like to darken them more permanently than mascara (get that freaky two-tone effect with mascara)

I use Swiss O Par to dye my eyelashes. I bought it on Ebay. It only takes a minute or two and is very easy to do. I hate wearing mascara, but my eyelashes are light colored and hard to see unless they're dyed. It doesn't make them any thicker or longer like mascara does... but at least they are more visible.

I love my eyelashes dyed, and mine are a dark brown to start with. Dying them a deep black just brings out my eyes more. I've had mine dyed only in salons (luckily my cousin is a beautician, so I get it at mate's rates ). Sometimes it gets in my eyes and hurts, but it's worth it

I've had it done in salons, but it freaks me out -- I'm not sure that it's very safe. Also, I hate having to go every 3 weeks. Is the Swiss o Par safe?

As far as I can tell. And they are much stricter about such things in Switzerland, I believe.

I had my eyelashes dyed in salon many years ago. I think it turns out better when I do it myself. I like the cost savings of course, but more than that, I really like that it's so quick. I feel like that's safer for my eyes.

I apply a bit of coconut oil around my eyes to protect my skin in case I get some dye on there. (The one time I skipped that step, I got a huge smudge near my eye.) You have to be careful not to get the oil on your lashes though, because that will interfere with the dye.

Then I just apply the first step liquid with a cotton swab to my lashes. After that's done, I brush or comb on the gel and they dye black right away. Then just wash it off.

They include some stick-on skin guards, but I never bother with them.

There's another lash dye product - I think it's called 1,000 Hours or something like that. I read a lot of positive reviews for it, but I think it takes 20 minutes or longer, and I personally don't want to leave dye on my lashes that long.

I just wanted to update this with the ingredients list from the Swiss O Par uk site:

Quote:
Ingredients

There is no peroxide in the bleaching agent.

The bleaching agents are:
1,2,4 trihydroxybenzene
citric acid
sodium sulfite
disodium PEG-5 laurylcitrate
sulfosuccinate
SLS

The dye element contains:
silver nitrate
ammonium hydroxide
acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer

The product is perfectly safe if used as directed. If either ingredient comes into contact with the eye wash immediately and thoroughly with water until the stinging is relieved

The product will stain the skin but the stain will disappear with normal washing over two to three days.
Keep in mind that it's only on the eyelashes for about a minute maybe every six weeks or so.

I also wanted to add that I think using the oil cleansing method may pull the color out faster. Olive Oil is know to pull out hair dye, both chemical and even henna (to some degree) which is supposed to be completely permanent. So if you use OCM around the eyes, it would probably make the eyelash tint fade quicker than it otherwise would. Just something to consider if you want to dye your eyelashes and use OCM.

Has anyone here dyed their eyelashes?
