OK, lay it on me- what's your fav nightime diaper?

I need a nightime diaper/cover combo that will not leak. I am waking up in a wet spot every morning, and I have even had to change 'sposies in the middle of the night!

I tried a HH pocket with a med prefold and two soakers, and we still had wet spots. I even tried putting a PUL cover over a 'sposie, and that contained the poop, but not the pee.

'sposies are hopeless, I had to changed M's diaper and his jammies at 3:00 am! I should have changed my sheets too, but there are limits to how far I will go.

So, tell me your favorite night time diaper combo. I'm willing to buy just about anything at this point.

We have a couple favorites....

1. a fuzzi bunz with 1 microfiber and 1 hemp insert... we have to be careful about overstuffing the pockets or the legs gap and leak but a MF and a hemp insert has been awesome for us. Even the 10 ton morning diapers haven't leaked.

2. a BSRB TIAN (bagshot row bamboo tucked in all night) with a super brite cover over the top... agaim, never leaked even when it weighed a ton!! The BSRBs are hard to find new but are pretty easy to find gently used on diaper swappers, which is where we got ours.

I've never had a leak when using a prefold with Aristocrats shorties or longies. A bit pricey but well worth the peace of mind..

I have super nighttime wetters, too. Pocket diapers never worked for us after about eight months old-- my kids just wet so much, and I couldn't cram enough absorbency into them to get them to last all night. (My kids also leak from sposies at night, so I know what you mean. Some kids are heavy wetters, but some kids are SUPER heavy wetters.)

What you need is lots of absorbency, under wool. Doubling or tripling prefolds will work. A really good fitted will work, especially if you fold a prefold inside of it. Then put the wool over it. A pull-on wool cover that's long in the leg and high in the waist, well-lanolized, will offer the best protection. We like Disana, or Aristocrat. But even that will leak if you don't have enough absorbency.

We use Very Baby Simply Nights at night. We use them with the snap-in doubler and an extra doubler, and sometimes an infant prefold inside of all that. My kids look like somebody stuffed balloons down their butts, but it works. You can get the Simply Nights with a fleece lining, too, if stay-dry is important to you. I can't tell you how marvelous these diapers are.

We buy them at http://tallulahbaby.com/simply-nights-cloth-diapers/

My dd is quite a heavy wetter but what works for us is an all organic combo (I do not know if it is any different in absorbency to non-org they feel thicker) of large ME Sandy's, small liner and a large bamboo liner (all ME Sandy's) and a Disana wool soaker pulled all the way up (almost to her armpits lol) and as far down her legs as it will go to make certain nothing will peek or dribble. Works every night! Same combo with PUL wrap was not so reliable. I also put a wool soaker on a sposie few times : when out travelling and that prevented the tiresome leaks as well.

I only have one size-- larges. I didn't buy them until DD1 was a toddler. The twins fit in them at about a year old, and at past two years old, are still wearing them. They fit a wide range because the wings are big and there are three sets of snaps. Those same larges DD1 fit in until she was nearly 3.

When in doubt, you'll want to size UP on these, though, especially if your LO is on the tall side. All that bulk means they ride lower.

Good to know! DS is 30 inches tall and about 24 pounds... would I want to go with the large on him?

Hemp or bamboo fitted with a wool soaker or wrap on top. You won't have a leak.

My baby is a month younger, and I'm just now at a point where I sometimes can go all night without a change, though.

well, I sprung for a disana pull on wool cover. It looked very nice. I got it off GMD.

I heard Hemp is good for avoiding diaper rash? My little guy gets it at the drop of a hat. The fleece liners from Happy Heiny's have been a Godsend.

And I don't know why, but I always assumed a cotton prefold would be more absorbant than a fitted?

I saw the disana tie-nappies. Anyone use those at night?

We use two large Thirsties hemp inserts, plus two trifolded premium pfs, inside a 2-layer fleece cover (made by me) or a PUL cover (homemade or Bummis Super Snap). Then we use wool or fleece pants over the top as pajamas.

She is a heavy, heavy wetter. But the hemp and prefolds work well together. It's key that the cover is big enough to fit over all that without gaping at the legs; I make my own so I can add width in the crotch for that. And extra rise.

We use a BG OS Pocket, and we've never, ever had a leak!

Holy cow--we couldn't even use those bG pockets during the day! Leaks galore with those. Interesting.

We are still working on perfecting this...

our best system seams to be a motherease one size with an NB prefold folded inside. Sometimes a hemp doubler as well. (depends if I have her in a new ME or an older one). All this is covered with a babyology wool soaker.

I think so... That would be my best guess, although the rise might be high for awhile, so you have to make sure you have a cover big enough to fit over it, too.

a thirsties stuffable aio stuffed w/ a swaddlebees hemp insert works well for us

A fitted or prefold will be more absorbent than a pocket or AIO. But typically, fitteds are more absorbent than prefolds (I use both and am a big prefold lover, but fitteds are great, too). I love cricketts hemp fitteds. Happy heinies makes a happy hempy which is a hemp pocket fitted, and you can get it lined with their fleece. You can stuff it with hemp, and it's a really good night time diaper. Bamboozle is another good fitted, obviously made from bamboo. I really, really, really like the bubu bebe b4 fitted, too. They're a bit pricey, but probably my favorite diaper.

The trouble I had with the aristocrat was this.

I stuffed his diaper (fitted) with as much extra doublers as would physically fit. He peed so dang much though, that a ton of pee still got on the wool. The wool help all the moisture in, but it got sooo much pee on it that I had to wash and lanolize all the time. Well that is a thick cover- and it would take 24 hours to dry which meant I had no cover for the next night, plus I had to wash wool constantly which gets old fast.

I switched to a generously sized PUL cover with leg gussets. That works better for us at night. I still like wool during the day when he doesn't get sopping wet.
