I saw this once on someones blog and have a good place to put it now. Just want to know the supplies that I need and some good climbers to grow - veges and flowers. Thanks

We are making two teepee's in the children's corner of our garden. The plans we were looking at at the Better Homes and Garden's site had Jack B'Little Pumpkins and Morning Glories. We are going to do pole beans, but may add some of the pumpkins and/or morning glories. We have both in seed. I found some good link on teepee's when searching. But I don't have BTDT experience!

We've used scarlet runner beans in the past. Last year I had pumpkins growing nearby and they kind of took over the thing too. I don't have a mature picture but you can see the structure as the garden was getting started here. I just used dead branches that I found in the shelterbelts. It was kind of haphazard, but that's the way things seem to be around here. I thought it looked rustic.

Clematis is a really pretty climber. I'm growing climbing peas in my garden this year. I bought bamboo poles (6 for $2 or something). They're very thing but 6 feet long and sturdy. I stuck them in the ground in a circle and then pulled the tops together and tied with twine. It's a nice, natural look and they're bio-degradeable too!

We did this last year with small gourds and scarlet emperor runner beans and morning glories climbing. I don't have pictures, but we used 8 pretty long bamboo rods and actually used plastic ties to secure them at the top... then used twine between the poles. Ours was very similar to this:

We didn't plant as thickly as we should have though and it wasn't quite the effect we were aiming for...we're going to try again this year.

I just built one this week for dd using the lowe's plans (no pics yet)...how "thickly" do you suggest? I planted a pack of scarlet runners, a packet of morning glories and about 15 gourd seeds?
