Diaper Liners

I would like to try my hand at making diaper liners. DS is a heavy wetter so they need to be extremely absorbant & also comfortable. Does anyone have any advice or recs they'd like to share on making diaper liners? I am an average sewer- nothing fancy but have the basics down pretty well. TIA!

Not by experience but what I keep reading about/hearing: Hemp fleece is too cool for doublers. They are suppose to be really absorbent.
This websites talks about how to sew doublers. I think it serger formula, but you can always adapt it for a regular sewing machine. Turn and top stitch. kathryn5kids

Hemp fleece or hemp terry makes nice doublers

hemp all the way! turn and topstitch will do it if you don't have a serger...about 3 layers of hemp fleece

you wouldn't even have to turn and topstitch hemp fleece as it doesn't ravel so you could just sew a few layers together...that's what i have done with fleece and it works great.

since hemp is more absorbant it takes longer to dry so if you wanted to be really effiecient and have the dry more quickly, you just cut hemp fleece up into strips and just layer them in the dipe, however many you need...the edges can curl a little but they don't ravel. just another idea...

Okay, so it's been awhile since I've been to the local fabric store for anything other than silkie material and decorator's fabric.... Can you find hemp terry or hemp fleece at the local fabric shop? How much (I know it will vary...) does it usually run a yard? TIA.

I'm making CD and I'm trying to use old cotton flannel, etc. things (even found a velour shirt at Goodwill I'm going to cut up--velour is expensive to experiment with).

I will probably eventually order hemp fleece or some such, but for now I'm trying to use what I have on hand. Can you just layer some things? I have an old sweatshirt that was 95% cotton that I cut up that seems pretty good for soaker fabric in a couple of layers, but I only have so much of that fabric.

Nope, you won't find it in a local fabcir store, but you will find regular cotton or poly/cotton terry

I made my (hemp french terry) soakers using an infant prefold as a pattern. I cut it twice as big, folded it over and zigzagged the edges. To use, I fold 'em in three and they're the perfect size to stuff a pocket or lay in a fitted. You get 6 layers of hemp, but they dry in a flash (quicker than a regular prefold).
