Can you use Shamwows/shamis for inserts?

Just starting to see what I like, and I hate the bulk, but wondered if you could use something like a few strips of Shamwows (maybe sewn together) as inserts instead of or in addition to regular ones (instead of doubling)?

lol i wondered the same thing....but more of a joke. i dont think you could really get them clean enough.

I don't think so. I was at a show this week-end and heard the guy selling those kind of things saying they should not go in the dryer... So it would make an insert that would take forever to dry.

i have heard of people doing this, but it was super annoying because they stuck to everything, and the colors bled on things. so i guess if you want to try, just be sure to wash them by themselves.

I have heard that it soaks up well in the dipes but then gets full and when they compress the shamwow by sitting or laying on it--squish it all comes out.

Thanks for the replies! I'm cool with waiting for them to dry, and washing separately, etc. I have super-hot/sanitize settings on my washer and dryer, so I think I can get them clean enough (especially if they're just soaking up pee and poo moisture, not poo solids). I thought about the squishing out thing---which is why I was thinking of backing them with a regular microfiber insert to take the excess moisture and hold it better.

I think I'll give it a whirl----thanks for the input!

I've used synthetic chamois in a pinch. It won't hold up to frequent, constant washer/dryer treatment, but it'll hold a decent nighttime diaper for my kid. We buy the big sheets dirt cheap at any flea market. Cut into smaller squares/rectangles, use for rags/camping/whatever.

I personally would not.
I don't do synthetics in the diapering area -- no microfiber either.
