DS will be (almost exactly) 2 when little brother or sister arrives, and from the looks of things, we're still hanging on (Woohoo! It's been tough for a bit).
So I don't want to spend all my time going back and forth between the kiddos, I'd rather nurse them both at the same time, seeing as two kids, two snack-stations, so it just seems to make sense. Obviously the new arrival will need more frequent nursing, but if I can do it as much as possible, it'll be easier for me to also take care of myself, and actually have my shirt on once in a while.
There's a couple of hitches.
1. I can't sit DS on my lap to nurse. Same reason I couldn't put him in a cradle-carry in a sling, he's a big guy with a long torso(DH is a big guy, so it's genetic), and I'm tiny. So sitting on my lap, DS is at about shoulder. We've tried him sitting next to me, but he doesn't have the patience, he wants to be held.
2. I get the best flow on the right. I have birth defects in my right arm, so it gets used less, so it's weaker, and much less coordinated.
I'm looking for ways I can use to figure out what will be most likely to be easiest before the new baby arrives. Like maybe putting DS's 'baby' (doll) on him during feedings, so I can get an idea how he'll react if I need to stack.
Is there, like, a chart or something online some place, like the ones for wrap skirts?
Oh, and I'm currently in the middle of Adventures in Tandem Nursing, so if there's positions in there I haven't found yet, please let me know so I can take a look.
Thanks in advance!
