What made you smile today?

Hi, I am suffering from postpartum depression, and since I cannot afford therapy, I am starting this thread because its a little personal step to help me and hopefully everyone else here everyday!

Today i smiled because my baby is *stuck with daddy* while mommy works, because babysitter is on vacation, and they are having a blast watching sesame street and talking babytalk! Normally I am sad being away from her so this is a good thing! Its therapy for all of us.

Your little girl is so cute!

Today when I was shopping, the cashier gave me a coupon she had cut out and saved and gave it to me! So I saved $2, and she also had to show another cashier how cute my little guy was. She made my day.

your idea is a good one! Trying to surround one's self with joyful messages does help a lot!

It is only 8:45 am, so it has been a short day thus far, but i have had cause to smile already.

My 14 month old son sleeps with me. This morning, he woke up and looked for me, when our eyes met he smiled his huge, very handsome smile at me, button eyes full of love and he rolled his rolly polly little steam roller body over to me, then over top of me, until his sweet little form lay perfectly nestled in my arms. He is so happy in the morning time.

Then i went downstairs, my oldest daughter wanted to sleep on the couch, so she was down there. Our house is a disaster, so I asked her to help me clean it today so we can do some art together. She smiled her full face smile, the perfect and complete smile only a person with down syndrome can produce, and she said "yay, art, you are my most funnest parent!" Then she shot out her arms and hugged my head too hard, lol.

My six yr old, who is very creative, a perfectionist and rather moody, came to me with the cutest little monkey sticker and said "mom, can you make me a doll like this" I was so happy because she has so much faith in me and my abilities. This monkey is going to be very complicated, and i have never made one before, but she doesn't care about that, to her, I am mother, and i can fix or make anything!

As far as my 13 yr old daughter goes, what she did to make me smile was to come out of her room, go the the bathroom, go back in her room, shut the door, and turn on her Wii to play her game. She is determined to evolve her pokemon. Yesterday, she said to me: "I figured out how to make them evolve, you have to open their hearts!" She was so excited because she had figured it out. It said something else to me tho, i looked at her and said "It is amazing how one can evolve when their hearts are opened, it is so cool they built that message into the game." She liked that, she is a pretty philosophical person.

The sun is shinning so brightly today, the little fat birds are eating their fill of seed from our bird feeders, and my coffee tastes great! A snap shot in time.

I hope you have a great day too!

Yesterday I played "red light, green light" with my 3 yo. I have been dealing with PPD for months now and things are starting to improve. My son and I went to Target yesterday and my son initiated this game...it was so much fun! That's the kind of parent I want to be, one that can be happy and fun...and I am doing it!

I'm just getting over my PPD (with the help of my newly pregnant hormones and fish oil), and its getting easier to laugh! Today we were in the garden, and everything was going smoothly. My 9 mo was playing with clumps of weeds, eating dirt, catching flies. So I was happily planting my lettuce, carrots, etc. Then I notice he's been reaaaaaallllly quiet for like almost 2 mins... I turned around and saw him shaking pea seeds out into the garden plot... like half a pack in a square foot!!!! I laughed so hard when I realized he was doing exactly what I was doing, shaking seeds out of the package. So I covered his with dirt and watered them I will smile again I'm sure when the tangled mess is growing all over!

Thank you 3daughters. Brie makes me smile all the time too. I also have three daughters, and only one son. It was an all girls house for many years, awww, the good ol days lol! I love my little roly poly baby boy tho, he is such a cuddle bug, except he has taken to biting, hopefully he grows out of it.

I think it is so wonderful when the wee ones mimic us. In essence, social learning is how we aquire skills, both good and not so good ones.

That is so sweet that you covered the peas and did not change them, how empowering to your little guy!

We actually have 4 daughters now but I never bothered to change my username . 4daughters is already taken so I'd have to be a bit more creative . I was thinking of galileegirl since we live in the Galilee (in Israel, near Nazareth) but couldn't remember how to contact the admins to do it!

Better Day! I waited until today to reply because yesterday I think was the worst day I have had yet. And I am making my point not to go into any negative details in this thread so details are not mentioned A new Day has come and I feel better. I got to see little 9 month Scarlett at lunch and she was sleeping so I popped into the babysitters bedroom and she started to cry until she saw me and then her tears turned into smiles and hugs and kisses and mommy food. Thank Goodness. She literally waits for me for lunch and refuses any bottles unless she is starving. She gets her stubbornness from me. Then when we were playing she stood up all by herself and wasnt holding on to anything! You shoulda seen here eyes, she was as proud of herself as I was! Made my day so now I can make it at work for the last 3 hours of the day. And tonight, when I get home...Im taking my oldest son to do something, just him. Yesterday he asked me if we could spend time together without brother and sister. So, he is helping me remember the important things I shouldnt forget to keep me on task. Kids are so good for that! I feel loved today and it makes me smile
