Have you successfully made powdered sugar in your blender? Please share your recipe/experience...

I have googled this to death. I want to make powdered sugar from regular organic sugar/evaporated cane juice. Every recipe/instruction I have found has a different amount of cornstarch added to it, and some say add no cornstarch at all. I do have organic cornstarch, but do I 'really' need it. Will it make that much of a difference?

Please share your recipe and experience w/this.

TIA!

We can't have corn, so I make my own. I find that a coffee grinder works better than a blender or food processor, but it takes longer since you have to do smaller batches. It's 1 tsp. starch (I use sweet potato or tapioca starch) to 1 c. sugar. And I just dip my finger in to see if it's "powdery" enough. I haven't figured out an exact time. You need the starch so that it doesn't cake up.

Thanks so much. We rarely use powdered sugar so this is a real treat! I can't wait to try it.

I've only ever made what I would use right then, and I've never used any type of starch. Caking isn't a problem, b/c I don't make extra.

OH... That is good to know, too!
Thanks,
