PP mamas: How often does your baby poo?

G hasn't had a poo since Thursday evening. He's had plenty of wet dipes, but no poo since Thurs. evening. I truly don't remember these aspects. When should I start to be concerned? He poo'ed tons in the hospital and his last poo was his first breastfed poo. He's got lots of gas, too. P-U! He is very content, though and doesn't seem/act like anything is wrong or upset with his tummy at all.

O has pooed constantly from the beginning, so much so we are fighting nasty diaper rash even though I am constantly changing him.

S went for 4 days after 3 meconium dipes w out pooing. lots of gas and wet dipes though. Then on night 4 she made up for it in a big way and has pood at least twice a day every day since then.

Mine poops a few times a day and maybe occasionally at night. I have noticed the poo has changed though. For the first 3 weeks it was very curdy, yellow-greenish and sorta dryish. and now its the wet honey mustard style newborn poo that I'm used to (and am glad for cloth diapers!!) I think that he is finally nursing well enough to get hindmilk.

I was in the tub with him last night and he was peacefully floating around and when I lifted him up to my chest noticed that he had pooped twice. It was hovering in a cloud at the bottom of the tub and then as soon as I moved it dispersed. let me tell you that was GROSS! So maybe if you little guy isn't pooping take him in the tub with you and he'll go!

I just weighed him on my digital scale b/c I wasn't sure he was getting what he needed since he wasn't pooping. He's actual above his birth weight! : He's up a bit over 9oz since we left the hospital and is just over 7lbs. (He was 6lbs13.5oz at birth.) Go mommy milk! :

I'm going to keep telling myself (for now) that my milk is just exactly what he needs so he's not having much output due to that. I will worry if it goes on much longer, though b/c...well...that's just the way I am.

DD1 and DD2 only pooped about once a week starting around 2 weeks. As it was explained to me, not much waste in breastmilk. No problems with either of them. Poor DD1 went through a lot of unneccesary poking and proding under the suggestions of the first pediatrician. Don't worry about it. DD3 has pooped everyday, but she is only a week so probably by next saturday she will start only pooping once a week.

This current baby poos a lot, but as you have seen a breastfed poo come out since birth I would not worry at all. The range of normal for poo is HUGE.

Same here. Everytime Im done feeding her, she poops right away. It's a pain at nightime, because she gets sleepy when Im done nursing her, but then I need to change her diaper.

about 4 or 5 times per day. Janelle pooped only once a week from 6 weeks old till she started eating around 11 months old...sometimes she'd go 2 weeks... When she would finally go though, wow, it was a disaster!

Exactly! Be prepared that the diaper will probably be large and likely overflow.

I am prepared! I put my favorite outfit on him yesterday in hopes of jinxing it!

Tried the warm bath last night. Made him pee, but no poo.

I took a stool softener (for myself) this morning and am wondering if it will effect him.
