Diaper service???????

Hi,

I am due with number 2 in November and was thinking about a diaper service. I think it will be nice since I will soon have 2 Dc and less to wory about and work on. Less laundry and I will not have to worry about having to get a new size in the mail before Dc runs out of ones that fit. STBDH he was thinking we would use sposies anyway and we would pay about the same with a service even less maybe. The ones here run about $20 - $22 a week then when bean get older goes sown to $15 - $18 a week you get prefolds snappies 2 wet bags and deoterizers they pick them up twice a week and drop off clean ones when they pick the dirty ones up. I would go for this after the newborn phase as I think an AIO (at least the ones I would get from a friend) are way trimmer on a newborn the prefolds are. I LOVED my prefolds with Ds so I know I will love them again you can not get a better fit than a prefold

Has anyone used a service? if so pros and cons of a service? Are they a waist of money?

Thanks mama's!!!!

our upstairs neighbors use a service and love it. i am so addicted to cds it makes more sense for us to wash them at home, lol. if you are cding just to try and save money, i don't think its helpful to go with a service (although it is probably a bit less expensive). i guess it just depends on what your motives are!

I used diaper service for 2 months with dd. It worked well for us since I had a C-section and it would have been tough for me to do the laundry at first. I was happy with the quality and cleanliness of the diapers, but I never seemed to have the right amount. I either ran out or had leftovers. I did 50 per week which is kind of a weird amount; I think they recommended 70 which is probably better.

We didn't have any problem with chemical residue, but I have heard from some mamas that their dc were sensitive to the service diapers. The service is not the least expensive way to cd, but it is very convenient. After 2 months I bought my own to save money and the washing wasn't a big deal by then.

My intention is to use it until I get in the groove of two children and to still CD. I feel spread thin right now and Ds is 5 and not in diapers I refuse to not CD this little bean the place is nice I talked to the owner she personally called me after I sent an e mail with in a few hours! She said they use all natural detergent and vinager they do not wash one persons diapers with another persons. They do pick ups twice a week and if the baby has a blow out they said just throw in the outfit and they will wash it also if you buy say fleece covers for night they will wash that for you also so really what you throw in the wet bag they wash it for you

They also have another service that if you buy your CDs they will come and pick them up and wash them I think they said that it is $7 per pick up/delivery and like $1.50 a pound (7-9 diapers) they will do this once or twice a week whatever it is you want. So what sounds good?? I really just want ease for the trasitipon phase and that is really all I never used one for Ds and it sounds soo good STBDH said we can use it at least until 5 months whatever service I like to help ease into two children he knows I am flipping a little about it

ETA: this is the package I was looking at...

The Jack 'n' Jill Package is an all inclusive diaper service option that is designed for the baby who is using between 9-12 diapers each day (approximately newborn to 8 months.)

With The Jack 'n' Jill Package you will recieve...
•84 DSQ Chinese Pre-Folds (12 diapers a day)
•2 Large Wetbags (split between deliveries)
•7 Diaper Covers
•2 Snappi Diaper Fasteners
•Delivery/Pick-up/Laundering twice a week

When your baby grows into the next size we will switch out your current stash to next sized stash up! No having to worry about purchasing more cloth diapers in the next size!

This all inclusive option is designed for the family who does not want to think about all the details of what you will need!

Price: $22.00 a week

or purchase 12 weeks of service and recieve the 13th week FREE!!!

You also get 15 wipes yes I would need to get more of my own I would do the same thing i did with Ds and go buy about 20 baby washcloths

There is also a package that is $18 a week with the same deal of 12 weeks 13th free but you have to get your own covers (that is the only differeance buying your own cover) I like the idea of that one BUT they have the kind of covers I would buy ME, Bummis, thirsties, and I think one other one.

I've never used a service before, but the fact that they keep your stuff separate would make me more likely to try them than otherwise. That's cool!

It's also cool that they'll wash your own dipes for you for a fee. I don't think it's a bad deal for the convenience of not having to wash your own, but you would have to buy a lot of diapers with them only washing a max of 2x/wk.

Not sure how to advise, but it sounds like a nice service!

I was thinking with the package where they wash your diapers for you. I could do that and just wash them once a week and that would still be a HUGE help to use the twice a week wash. We are almost positive that we will use this place. She even has a women to make special orders for ring slings and diaper covers and mama pads!!!! she sold me on that lady at mama pads she even said everything has to pass through her before they leave she looks over everything and makes sure that there are no holes or to much wear on the Cd's she also said that we can come and see the place and that they like to do an interview with both STBDH and I and that we can have our first delivery a few weeks before the due date so that we can take the CD's to the hospital if we birth there. ALso they include wipes but need to add that on their site. I like that they want us to see where the CD's are washed and what not and that they use all natural cleaners! Ohh I am almost positive that she said that they are NOT bleached

I used a diaper service twice and really enjoyed it. With my 3rd dd I used it while I was on maternity leave. It gave me 3 months of cd-ing and then I put her in sposies when she started day care. With my baby, I used a diaper service for 2 months postpartum. It gave me time to get acclimated to having 4 kiddos. She wore the diaper service infant size and by the time I was ready to start washing on my own, the MEOS fit her nicely on the small setting.

Having a diaper service was really nice but I don't find washing to be a big deal either and it is certainly cheaper.

I think the luxery of a diaper service is a great gateway to getting your groove. Either way just remember routine is your key to a good diapering experience -- and mistakes are ways of learning to be good at it.

Enjoy!

i think it's absolutely worth it (we pay $20 a week).

don't know if i would have stuck with CDing if i had to wash them myself.

I know that is one thing I am worried about I personally NEED routine and if I get in the habit of a service I am scared that I will not be willing to do the laundry myself Now laundry is the only housework I HATE passionately I feel true hatred for laundry stbdh figured out if we used the service for a year it is still a huge save from sposies so I think he is thinking that we may keep it for a long time even two years is a save from sposies and then get some pockets when the bean is older but I am not to sure we are just positive we will be going with this company for at least a 6 months they are just a few towns over in my country but they also work with most of WNY I love that there is a company here : there are actually two but the one we will use is cheaper and you get way more prefolds and waay more covers and you also get the cloth wipes too and the other company you do not and the other company is not green at all! so I get a green deal AND more diapers AND cheaper!
