how did you set up the video camera?

So we don't actually own a video camera, but I'm hoping to find someone to borrow one from for the birth. I'm wondering... how did you set up your video camera?? I have a friend coming to take pictures of the birth and she said she'd be fine with being in charge of the video camera too, but can you buy tripods or something to set it on and just aim it at the birth, or what? It would be rather hard for her to get awesome photos if she's trying to hold a video camera, ya know?

Thanks!

We had it on a tripod facing the birth tub. Either my husband or the midwive hit "record" and "stop" periodically. I was in lala land so without them we wouldn't have gotten anything.

I still haven't been able to watch it! lol (almost three years later)

We are planning to use a tripod this time because I want very few people (if any) in the room besides DH (I'm hoping for a partial UC with the MW out on the couch). Last time my sister held the camera.

We did a tripod - overall, it was the best we could do, although there are people in front of it a lot in the movie.

When we thought it was getting close, DH set up the tripod in the corner facing the bed where I was and just let it run. I'm sure there are people walking in front of it, but it caught the baby coming out, so I'm happy w/ it. (Though I haven't been able to watch it yet, 6 weeks later.) I pushed for well over 4 hours, so I can't imagine anyone will ever watch the whole thing.

I had it on a tripod aimed at the birth tub. Got one birth that way and then when I moved to my bed for the next birth, they must have moved the tripod over there b/c we got that one too.

We just set it on a chair and aimed it towards the birth pool. It worked fine this way. If you moove, just find something else to rest it on. It doesn't catch EVERYTHING, but worked well enough.

Yeah, we're just going to set it up on a tripod and let it go. We don't want anyone other than DH, MW and MW assistant at our birth so no extras for pictures or video. I figure it'll get what it can - at least it'll capture the essence of the moment even if it doesn't actually capture the birth. I'd rather have DH focused on me and the birth since he's catching instead of getting it all on video.
