Help!! Fleece repelling after oil use.

Thread Starter
We have a stash of Tiny Tush pocket dipes, microfibre inserts, fleece liners (for our preefolds) and they've all become useless after we used Weleda baby oil to treat DD's diaper rash.

So THAT was a mistake!

We tried stripping them with hot washes, vinegar, baking soda...no luck.

Any suggestions for how to save these diapers? Currently they are out of rotation, but they are deeply missed at nighttime.

And if we have to use the oil again, we'll also use paper liners!

I love my TinyTush and would if something happened to them. I also love my Weleda - but I guess it's not such a good combo, huh?

I've often heard suggested to use a toothbrush and scrub the diaper with Dawn (original blue) dishsoap and rinse with super super hot water.

You might consider briefly boiling the inserts and maybe even the diapers. There is some risk involved with boiling the diaper. You wouldn't want the snaps to melt, but many have boiled their pocket diapers without trouble.

My bff strips her diapers in the dishwasher.

Usually multiple (VERY) hot rinses is enough for us, with a little Dawn squirted in there.

I hope something works for you! btw, I use weleda diaper care, and just use a fleece liner between baby and diaper. I wash the liners separate when possible, and you can always toss them and get new as needed since they are pretty inexpensive.

Good luck!

I have also heard that Dawn and a scrubbrush works great. I would give that a shot. Also can you call the company and ask what they recommend?

I use Simple Green (not a lot, either) and then wash on hot until the diapers no longer smell of Simple Green.

When diapers that had lots of greasy ointment, I did spray the simple green directly on (sparingly). Usually, a couple squirts into the wash cycle does the trick.

Dawn gives me headaches and rashes, so we don't buy it.
