Okay, I've finally had enough of a nap to be able to function and write a little about my woefully brief trip to NY. (Really really short. 7h total, including 3h of car rides on very windy backroads that made me feel
!)
Kate is wonderful and kind, and Go-Go is absolutely stunning. His face is so striking, and he's huge for a Cardi. (Clue, otoh, is fairly short for a Cardi.) We played with the pups, she answered a bunch of questions (mostly by saying, "Let's ask Joanna,") and she gave me a HV dryer!
She also fed me the most delicious chicken salad sandwiches and chocolate birthday cake with fresh cream cheese frosting. Best birthday EVER!
So: Joanna. It was so fantastic to meet her after talking to her for the last year. She's as wonderful in real life as she is online: kind, funny, intelligent, caring, warm, and chatty! I had so many questions and so much confusion, and she answered everything -- I took notes. We talked about vaccinations, fleas/ticks, heartworm, training, housebreaking, puppies, feeding, showing, and homeschooling. Her husband is just like her. They were both SO warm.
Dogs: I met Bronte, Clue, and Ginny! Bronte was a little "soft," she was a little hesitant with me until I'd been there for a while. She's beautiful, black and brindle-pointed. She's very long. Ginny is EXACTLY like Joanna describes her. She immediately got out of the car and started barking at the puppies who got near her, like, "How dare you! I am in charge here!" She was such a spoiled princess, she did not like the farm and getting dirty. Clue was... beautiful! She's short for a Corgi, but other than her length she is so correct in every other way. I really like her brown eyes with her blue coloring.
Go-Go was going crazy with all the female dogs around. He was trying to get on everyone!
Joanna examined all the puppies, and it was like she and Kate were speaking Greek, so I chatted with Joanna's husband and daughter. She tried to show me some differences by examining Ginny (for her incorrectness) but I still didn't really get it. But it was fun to watch. She showed me what the right size should feel like as far as weight management.
Then she bathed Maizey so I could see how it's done. I was the one who emailed Joanna asking about grooming, and she answered with like 92 posts about everything involved in grooming, and so it was cool to just see it done in person. She kept it simple for me. Two products, then the dryer.
I swear, I am as excited about the dryer as I am about Maizey.
