I know the basics already but can't seem to find the answers I need. Now that I am 37w I'm running out of time.
We don't havea birth/kiddy pool we have a 4 person 1000L hot tub. Which is much larger than our hot water tank and takes a while to fill even if you don't care about the temp. right now it's been emptied and cleaned. We were planning on using the jets and heater until my water broke and then slipping in a plastic sheet as a liner with a cloth drain sewn in the bottom over thedrain for easy clean up, jets off of course.
Even with the heater going it woul take about a day or two to get it ready, and I have a feeling this labor won't be that long, maybe 6-12 hours.
I would be happy to fill and prep it and than empty and refill for freshness every so often, but have no clue how often since the water will be warm ad circulated, instead of sitting. And don't want to do it anymore often than needed just incase surges start up on the day it isn't ready or needs refill. In that case I forcast a stalled labor longer than it could have been just because I can't seem to detach from this tub birt idea for somereason.
Of course I don't want to use any chemicles, but would add a herbal tea or infusion if possible. I don't want to be silly and risk infection of any of us, however I have seen waterbirths after 3 days of labor, as well as large hottubs, and pools, but never know about the pool/water care.
I actually talked dh into buying this house because I wanted to birth here And in the tub, everything about it and it's shape/steps are perfect for birthing, I really don't want to flub up and miss my chance just because I didn't know better. So please any info that may help, even personal experience/comfort, do share. I'm a logical person when making choices, not a big risk taker.
