Everything went smoothly and she made her appearance into the world at 9.58am. Much to our surprise she's a girl, we didn't know, but were strongly suspecting boy.
Vital stats were weight 7lb 4oz, length 18 1/2in, heard circumference 13 3/4 in.
Much of yesterday is a blur, as very shortly out of surgery, there were a lot of visitors, including our family doctor to do the newborn check, which I think is good for a Sunday lunch time, we'd have just got the oncall one if we'd gone with the group our older kids are at.
She was not really interested in feeding yesterday, so the colostrum I'd expressed came in very handy. Unfortunately this morning, the nurse noticed she was shaking, so tested her blood sugar, which was low. Repeating the test half an hour after a good feed was also low, so it was off to NICU for her, where she is receiving sugar via IV. I'm trying to pump frequently, so if she's still not interested in latching on we've got a back up for feeding once her 24 hours on a drip is up.
