Couple of questions about babywearing tall/long torso baby?

I have a 22 month old who still loves to be carried. I usually find myself doing the hip carry or front carry and he loves to be up high (head on my shoulder).

I have some pouch slings that are mis-sized. I like them, but they just don't fit. 1 is too small (digs into my neck - ouch) and two are too big (he "sits" down on my thigh almost).

I also have some mei tais, but I'm just not all into the straps and such.

I would also like to try the back carry sometime, but in a pouch I'm really not sure the back carry is all that secure.

Here's my biggest problem...he's very tall - like 3 feet! He's got long legs and a long long torso! A friend loaned us a Playtex hip carrier (can't remember the name) and he can do "back flips" out of it. Scary!

I have heard that babies can do back flips out of the ergo as well.

So what is a good carrier for:

1) Long torso/tall babies
2) Plus sized mom (3X/4X)
3) Baby that is already 30 lbs.

Oh, and good grief! What do I do with all these carriers that I can't use. I tried some yahoo babywearing group but haven't been able to sell them. I can't "give" them away because I do need some funds to get myself the perfect carrier...any ideas? I've probably got $150 invested in pouches and mei tais!

Here's the carriers I'm possibly looking at, but feel free to steer me towards others if you know of them: scootababy (but I would be limited to hip carry), ergo (if he can't do the back flip out of it), beco (again, if the back is high enough). Any others? Thanks!

To resell your old carriers, check out thebabywearer.com
You'll have to be a member for 30 days with 30 posts before you can sell, but that should be easy - you can ask all about the new carriers you're considering.

For a tall carrier, I'd suggest looking at the Bloo Kangaroo Kanga-XT or Olives & Applesauce 18".

Wow! I hadn't heard of either one of those and I like them both...time to join the babywearer.com and see if I can sell off some of these pouch slings. I guess I'll be needing some money!

I just found out that O&A is about to sell the company and stop offering 18"! So now's the time if you are looking at an 18" O&A... Not sure when the date is.
