Binding Off, Weaving In, and the Final Snip

Another beginning knitter here!

I think I've got the whole bind-off-weave-in routine set. My problem is with giving the yarn that final snip. First, call it paranoia, but I have a really hard time keeping my faith that my project won't unravel. How can I ensure that everything is secure?

And second, for one project, I'm using a really thick yarn and 10 1/2 needles. The yarn always ends up fraying wherever I cut it. I snip a little more off, and it just frays some more. How can I hide that?

Thanks mamas. One day, I'll get really good and return the favor by helping other novices.

With animal fibre yarns, I normally wash and wet block before I snip the ends, which lets everything kind of settle where it should be. As far as fraying yarn goes, though, I have no idea. I'd just ignore it and pretend it wasn't happening, tbh.
