Bikini line waxing question

Hi ladies,

I've got sort of embarrassing question. After my pregnancies my pubic hair went wild (sideways and down). In a week we are going to a beach vacation and I really need an advice on bikini line waxing. I've never done it in my life, but I have heard people mentioning that some brands are better and easier to use (which would be REALLY important for me since I have zero experience).

Shaving doesn't really work for me. I did shave about a month or so ago and it turned into a complete disaster. As a result, my pubic hair now is only about 1/2 of it's normal length (which I'd imagine will make it more difficult to wax). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Yulia

Hi,

The shorter length might not be a problem. The ideal length for waxing is around 0.5-1cm I think. If it is too long it REALLY hurts. If you haven't waxed before would it be an option to go to a salon? I have tried doing it myself before (with a few different products) and it is very tricky to get the right angles for removing the wax and finding enough hands to hold the skin taught etc. I always ended up with bruising and/or bleeding. I'm sure there are people who can do it themselves with no problems but I am certainly not one of them

When I used to get bikini waxes, it only cost $15 and that was in California. Definitely get a professional to do it. It is going to really hurt the first time and my guess is if you are doing it yourself, you won't be able to finish. You can always try doing it for yourself later on.

ITA to go for the pro. I get mine done but I have also done it myself and despite having done it a bunch of time I still mess up sometimes and create a hella painful mess. Find a nice spa and ask for their most experienced waxer and it will be over in 5 minutes.

Just wanted to chime in to take a pain reliever about an hour before your appt. Overall the pain is not that bad but I notice if I forget to take something beforehand.

Thanks ladies! I've done the waxing yesterday. I have pretty high pain tolerance, so while this is not something I'd want to do every day, it was not much of an issue either.

I know this thread is a few months old, but I just wanted to add some advice that made waxing a little easier for me. When you shower use a loofah to gently exfoliate the skin. I would do this the night before or earlier in the morning but not immediately before.
