Colby is hurt....:(

He is running, jumping, and playing fine; but when we pick him up or press around a rib area, he yelps. Any ideas??

Should we watch it and see how he is in a few days???

Or would it be anything really serious??

The only thing I can think of is that my son (hobbling on one foot because of an infected bee sting) accidentally stepped back on Colby's paw. I don't know of any other incidents where he could have been injured.

Thanks,

Rebecca

ETA: He is our (presumed) Chorkie puppy.

I would try to keep him quiet for a few days which would mean no running and jumping.

I don't think that stepping on his paw would cause him to have a sore spot on his ribs... peek into the hair and see if there is a red area, a bump or a wound.

I would probably just watch it for a few days, but I'm like that with animals and people, too. Does he seem to be in pain, otherwise? Is he walking around and playing like usual or is he favoring one side and lying around a lot? If he's acting like he's in a lot of pain I'd take him in, but otherwise I'd just watch it for awhile.

Our pup hurt herself when she was little probably by jumping around too much. She was stiff getting up and hobbled a bit as she warmed up, but I just watched and waited and she was fine within a week.

Thanks everyone! I did just watch him, and he seems better. I did hear him yelp another time or two, but he has been playing just fine. No limp or anything, so it may just be a little sore.

Thanks again!
