I would love to say I am gd but I have low patience and don't always know what to do. I am working on it.
anyhoo, the boys 8 and 3 are in the front yard playing in the huge pile of dirt we have in our driveway (for landscaping) 3 year old throws a dirt clod (hard as a rock) at ds1 hits him him in the head and he starts to cry.
In stead of yelling at ds2 I go to ds1 and ask if he is ok and say how that must of hurt. ds2 comes over and I say how hard the rock is and tap it on his head (not to hurt or punish him just to show how hard it is.) He is very concerned about ds1. I ask if he might want to say sorry and he says YES! He hugs his brother and says sorry and means it! YAY!
1/2 a breath later they are fighting over a huge dirt clod. ds1 is trying to block a hole and ds2 is trying to move it. rather then yell or give ds2 his way I tell ds2 that the rock is blocking the monsters that live in the hole so we have to keep it there. He thinks this is pretty funny and leaves it there so the monsters can't excape. yay 2!
