Softest Dipes?

Over time my diapers seem to get less and less cozy. This is especially true of those with bamboo... Though also true of the fleece in FBs.

Is this inevitable?

How do you combat/prevent it?

What diaper do you love because it is so cozy soft?

I'd love to hear some answers for this because I don't have any diapers that are as soft now as the day I bought them! I'm not sure there's much you can do...

I've found my flats and prefolds (Indian unbleached cotton) to be softer now or as soft as they day I got them. The flats softened up while the prefolds were always soft (once prepped). My favorite are some ancient flats that are super duper soft!

Synthetics are deceptive - something about their molecular composition - can't use them to clean glasses because they will scratch the lenses - just cotton!!! I read something about how under a microscope they are actually "sharp"...if that makes sense.

While none of my dipes are bamboo - my mom's bamboo clothing has gotten pilly and less soft over time....I don't know why.

That is true of my stash too, and it is the answer of which I was afraid . I want someone to chime in about an extra soft and silky, super absorbent and ultra cozy one-size fitted!

Anyone?

I find jamtots minkee diapers to be just as soft as when I started using them over a year ago. They are so super luxurious and wonderful - I just love them!

I love Thirsties Fab Fitteds. They're not bamboo, but they're so soft and squishy...I wish I could make underwear out of them. Love em.

I love Pampered Cheeks cotton velour fitteds. They are so squishy and soft. She makes a one-size also.

She doesn't have any in stock right now, though.

I keep all my dipes (even bamboo) soft by using Ecover fabric softener. I love that stuff. Or Vons/Safeway carries a 'green' brand of fabric softener that works just as well, it actually smells better too.

Flannel

I have some generic flannel fitted diapers that are as soft as when I got them. And I agree about the flats and prefolds, mine are the same or softer after five years of use.

My organic cotton prefolds are the softest thing I've got. Also have a nanipoos fitted that's minkee lined that's still VERY soft. besides those two - my thirsties fab fitteds are the only other thing that has stayed relatively soft. I was SO dissapointed when my kissaluvs were used a bunch and washed a lot since they were so cozy when I first got them. They're still more comfortable and breathable than a sposie though!

My Swaddlebees OS velour fitted is still super soft after almost a year of use.

I agree with flannel or cotton velour.

You can find fitteds made with these (I think?) but you can also have them custom made by a WAHM. You can PM me if you want suggestions, or just search on Etsy/Hyenacart and see what you find.

DD's Mother-ease one-size bamboo fitted has stayed extremely soft - much softer than our Bamboozle.

I still like flannel and have had a good success with it. Along with Indian Prefold, cotton velours.

Bamboo and Hemp velours and fleeces are lovely for a long time but eventually break down like most other fibers.
