S/O This may seem TOATLLY niave but, if you didn't bleed during your first intercoures....

When I had sex for the first time there was no blood, there was no blood ever. Does that mean my hymen had been broken some other time before? Would that hint towards molestation? How common is it for young girls to not bleed during first intercourse? I really am niave about this stuff, my mom never talked to me about anything TIA

working out, tampons, etc can make the hymen break before first intercourse

I was just thinking about this reading another thread......I never had any bleeding, either, and I was certainly never molested. And I don't think I ever had a membrane that covered all or most of my vagina. Honestly, I don't think anything changed after intercourse (until I had a baby, but that's another story.)

Mine was broken while learning how to canter (the impact down there into the saddle with each bounce can be pretty hard) during horseback riding lessons.

A bunch of my IRL women friends and I were just talking about this. Out of the 8 of us, only 2 bled the first time they had intercourse. So it seems pretty common to me.

I did not bleed until I had sex with my second boyfriend. I had sex with the first for a couple of months. Sooo, if I did have a hymen, what does that say

I think my hymen was gone long before since I had been using tampons for years at that point....

Sex the first time for me hurt really really bad!!!!! I bled also.

I imagine that every woman is shaped differently, even without potential other reasons that the hymen could be stretched or broken, but I have noticed that male appendages can vary GREATLY and well, perhaps that has something to do with it sometimes, too. :

I didn't bleed either, but I slipped at the pool when I was maybe 10 or 11 & straddled the edge, which produced *a lot* of blood - so I think that was when my hymen tore.

Dd2 fell forward off her bike about a month ago & fell, straddling the bar & also bled from her vagina. It wasn't a ton of blood, so I'm not sure if she tore hers completely.

Exdp is from rural Mexico & said that when he was growing up (he's 41), little girls weren't allowed to ride bikes because of the risk of tearing their hymens & not appearing to be virgins on their wedding nights.

My DH(52) is 1st generation Mexican/American and he has made comments about the very same thing. His exDW reportedly didn't bleed on their wedding night either, and the story was she was riding a bike and was injured... His sisters weren't allowed to ride bikes either, I believe. Isn't it terrible to think that little girls are burdened with virginity issues??

I've always wondered about my hymen. I started my period at age 11 and had never bled from there before. I started using tampons for my second period. Can it break just from menstruating? Or was it probably from tampons? I certainly wasn't molested.

Just wondering...

I'm 99.9% sure it was the tampons. Most women have one or more holes in their hymen to allow menstrual blood to escape but I can't imagine blood would ever be forceful enough or corrosive enough to actually damage a hymen.

As an aside, a hymen doesn't necessarily completely break upon becoming sexually active. Sometimes there is a piece of the hymen that will break during later intercourse or activities, or even not until childbirth.

I really don't know how it ever got a rep for being a telltale sign of anything. It's so individual ... I feel awful for all those women throughout history who were humiliated or even harmed just because they didn't bleed on their wedding nights.
