We didn't start cloth diapering DD1 until she was about 20 months old, and we started out with medium fuzzi bunz, which we love! DD2 is due in august and I want to use cloth but I have to say, I'm worried about the cost of buying cloth for a newborn, and I have no idea how to use prefolds! I love love love the convenience of pockets. I was thinking a good compromise would be to start with fuzzi bunz size small. They are advertised as fitting newborns, and my neighbor's baby fit them around 2 weeks old. I'm thinking we'll have sposies available for the very beginning. Anybody else tried fuzzi bunz with a newborn?

I'd agree with the pp that the small fb's don't usually fit brand new newborns. Granted, my babies are small, but they didn't fit well until about 2 months when they were up to about 8-9 lbs. Plus you want something in the beginning that will fit under the umbilical cord. I always love prefolds for that brand new baby phase or fitteds and covers. I had a few xs diapers in there for convenience and then went with almost all AIO's and pockets once they fit into a size small.
Hope you have a great rest of your pregnancy!

I like to line the inside of the Fuzzi Bunz diaper with a Gerber cotton prefold for extra absorbency, and I think that would also be a way to make a loose diaper fit a newborn better.

I had 1 size small Fuzzi Bunz when dd was a n00b that I bought because it was black and she had a chance of being born on Halloween
and I thought it fit fine. I have a picture of her somewhere wearing it at 8 days. It SHOULD really have been her first diaper at birth since we'd left all our other cloth at home but I had forgotten I had it....And she was only 6 lb at birth. Anyway, but that was the old style so I'm not sure about the new style.
That being said, we are all about the Kissaluvs 0 for newborns.
