Nipple Stimulation *TMI*

So for anyone out there who has tried it. I experienced my first actually timeable ctx last night that were also where they should be. IE not up high but down low in my pelvic region. Getting all excited, this morning I decided it was time to try some serious nipple stimulation to see if I could get them going again!

So my question is this. What is the right way to do this? I ended up just laying in bed pulling on my nipples for what seemed like an hour but was really only about 20 minutes. Very vigorously, I might add. I did feel a few crampy twinges but nothing close to the night before. Is it quantity that matters should I be doing this for an hour or something? Is there such a thing as pulling too hard, or is it more about just touch? I don't know, I wouldn't think to use a breast pump even if I had one which I don't so that isn't something to try but I am wondering if I was going about it all wrong?

I think it's supposed to be more of rubbing around the nipple in a circle, though trying to express colostrum might be good too if you have some, I've done that a couple times (getting like 5ml only of course). Nothing gives me contractions except for walking though so I can't help with inducing contractions with it.

This hasn't actually worked for me either, but I understand the idea is to go around the nipple and simulate what it would be like if you were breastfeeding. I felt silly googling this, but here you go!

Just a thought ... you probably don't want to have to start breastfeeding with your nipples already sore.

yeah it seemed like actually making them sore was a little counter productive. As far as expressing colostrum goes unfortuantely I can be sitting in a tee shirt without a bra and leak like a faucet so it doesn't matter what I do in that regard

I read somewhere you didn't even have to touch your nipples it was more about the breast itself..ahh well thanks for the insight!!

I wouldn't be quite that rough on them as another PP said. You don't want to go in to your first nursing experience with already sore nips.

In the hospital, midwife suggested nipple stimulation to get labor going and said it's especially helpful in a hot (not too hot, obviously) shower with the water on the front of you, too.
