what do do with the conventional body care products

Mil just gave me some as a gift. They have propylene gycol, and petrolatum, aren't those the bad guys? I need to do better about reading labels; but, I trust Jason, Nonie, and Burts, which I use. It seems as though I read an article somewhere about not putting drugs in the toilet, and I wondered if there would be some adverse effects of dumping the bodycare and recycling the plastic. Cute terry covered wet bag; but, I put my stuff in it and took out the other stuff. :LOL

TIA!

If you have any less-crunchy friends, you could offer the stuff to them.... if they like it, it won't go to waste!

Or, give it to a women's shelter?

peace,
alsoSarah

same here! i have stuff piled up under the sink because i feel like if i don't think it's good to use, what kind of person would i be to give it to someone else?

but then again, if they are going to use the stuff anyways, then maybe i should jut give it away. but for some reason i still can't.

Some of these products are so VILE. Very dangerous for our water system just like housecleaners that have these ingredients. I take stuff like this to the firehall in our district who disposes of the stuff in a way that does not harm the environment. Most of these products are not biodegradable so don't put them down the drain as they will damage the ecosystem in your community.

Yeah, Jessica....I wouldn't want to use pg or parabens, or any other offender, so I wouldn't want anyone else too. As a matter of fact, since my sil has been here, and before my bil reports to his base, I will make sure they have some real vitamins and supplements. (bil has Centrum. ) I'm teaching sil about body care right now! But, it *can't stay, and neither can I! We're moving, and I also am trying to get rid of clutter in general to have a more ordered life! That has *not been my strong point as an artist, and now marrying a computer geek its *worse!

Thanks for replying, Colleen! I wasn't sure as I said in the OP if I should dump them. Wonder where I can take them a bit farther south in NC....

eta: check the recycling centers and I *know there's a place that takes hazardous waste....

My dh just told me that most dumps here have a sector for chemical disposal, not sure if its like that in the US but its worth a call!

I *just check my recycling centers

I can dispose hazardous waste, including batteries from our church's wireless mic, I've been stashing in my purse! : I think they'll take it monthly? I need to start collecting it! UGH! My recycling needs organizing!

eta: Thanks Colleen!
