Pavlik harness and babaywearing???

Hi mamas,

I have a tough question...my baby girl was born breech and must be in a pavlik harness (which keeps her legs splayed out froggy style) for 3 mos. I wanted to know if anybody else has had a newborn that used this harness and if so, what sort of carrier did you use. For other moms out there who haven't had this issue, do you have some advice on what I could use. She would have to be in the position of say a 4 mos in the ergo, except she is newborn. any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated...I have a 2.5 ds and I would really like to be as hands free as possible in the coming months.

I know absolutely nothing about the pavlik harness so I have no personal experience for you. I did google it and from what I can tell, I think that a Mei Tai would work. I don't know how far out the legs have to be away from the body in the froggy position but if they can be close to the body, a tummy to tummy carry (as a newborn) in a wrap, ringsling or a Mei Tai. Hope that helps some and good luck!

My DD was in a Pavlik harness for a couple of months as a newborn. I had a ring sling and tried the cradle carry some, but it was hard to fit her in with her legs in the harness, and I wasn't sure she was comfortable, and she didn't seem to like it much. Eventually I got a ring sling that really fit well and learned how to adjust it tight enough to do a good tummy-to-tummy carry. I'm pretty sure I used that when she still had the harness on, but even if I didn't, I don't see why it wouldn't have worked.
