I have very thick hair. Just below my shoulders too.
My shampoo "routine" (if that's what you want to call it) consists of a Chagrin Valley shampoo bar or Kiss My Face Whenever shampoo or water. All depending on the amount of oil/greasyness of my hair. If I need a little conditioning I have Suave Naturals.

I tried to do the BS way. Even tried sea salt. They just don't seem to work for me. We have hard water here and, while it's good, not very strong water pressure.
I'd like to try something else but what?
I've seen people use honey, brown sugar, and a slew of other things. I think my main question is - how to you apply and how do you get it all out of *really* thick hair?

Not sure why I feel the need to try something different.
I just started tonight using honey on my face. We'll see. My face feels oily but it could be the humidity (our ac isn't working). I've broken out horribly in the last couple days. All over my face, more than I have in years.

Anyways, sorry for my rambling.
