baby "wearing" help

I want to be a "baby-wearer." We have a preemie, and certainly feel better about keeping her close to me to help cut down on the amount of people who try to touch her hands. She should be coming home some time in the next week/week and a half.

What kind of sling/carrier have you tried and LOVE and/or HATE? I don't really have the funds to spend a gazillion on a sling or carrier, but I would be interested in investing in something that actually works.

If it's an item that isn't found in stores, any links would be appreciated.

TAK.

Moby wrap...or moby d since less fabric is better in the summer. The prosperity (or any of the symbol moby ds) are lighter weight and stretchier. They look intimidating but are actually really easy after you try it a few times. They are also great for skin on skin carrying so you can build up your milk supply more. I'd send you one myself from the store I work at but I'm on maternity leave as of this week. The moby ds run 54.95 plus shipping but they aren't huge or heavy so you shouldn't need to pay more than 4.85 for priority.

I would second a Moby wrap! You can get them new, or look around for one on a FSOT forum. You can usually find them for about $30 used.

Or a pouch sling like a Hotsling would be good too. I got my used one for $10.

I third the Moby. It is really great for skin-to-skin. I wore DS in it for months and months. It was very comfortable for both of us and had more than a few people ask me where I got my interesting shirt, then I turn around and they realized there was a BABY in there!

For the summer you might find the Moby too warm. If you find it to be so, try a gauze wrap. You can often find them on the FSOT (that's where I got mine) or check out diaperswappers.com they have mostly cloth diapers but they have a baby carriers section. I don't know how the selection is there though.

GL mama and congrats!
