a little nervous to switch to raw milk...

I kind of go back and forth...I'm just a little nervous to switch--I like the health benefits, but then I get nervous thinking about giving unpasturized foods to my daughter. I found a coop that gets raw dairy from a farmer in Penn. (we are in NC) and ships once a month, so we could do it...any thoughts? Anyone else nervous at first to switch?

I was nervous to make the switch. I think it is understandabe. We have grown up in an anti raw milk Amerca.
What made me comfortable was getting to know the farm and farmers. If afarm doesn't want to answer your questions or let you see the place...a red flag for me.
Also the research I did helped. Forums like this are full of such knowledgeable Mamas and I really like the Weston A. Price site and realmilk.com.
Good luck! If you go for it, the nervousness passes...

I know exactly where you're at, I'm waiting to see if you get any answers, they would be very helpful for me as well. All I have to do is get DH on board (which will be tricky) and then we're good to go. But sometimes I feel like chickening out! Good luck!

I was nervous at one point. Since part of my job entails seeing what grows in cleanrooms, raw milk really freaked me out. But then, I tried some and I was not curled into a little ball like I was when I drink "regular" milk. So, I was hooked. I drank raw milk for a while before giving some to my son. Although, when grandparents come to town (a pedi and a nurse), I usually switch DS to the Trader Joe's un-homogenized milk. I just don't want to justify that as well! I choose my battles wisely

I have found out that I can not even drink Lactaid anymore without feeling bad. So, I have to find raw milk (or drink hemp milk because I am supposed to limit my soy intake due to my thyroid).

I was definitely nervous about giving it to my kids. And then I thought about it and realized that I wouldn't think twice giving my kids unpasteurized apple juice, or raw fruits and veggies, or peanut butter. It seems like just about any food might be contaminated with nasty bacteria, so raw milk from a clean dairy, where the farmers are probably pretty darn paranoid about keeping their milk pure, is probably much less risky than any of the other foods I give to my family.
