Sick puppy -- what to do?

Our 5 month old mini-dachshund is having diarrhea and vomiting today, and isn't acting like himself (very quiet, lots of resting, etc.). He's had about 4 episodes of really watery/mucusy poop, so I held off on his food and am just giving him water. He doesn't feel feverish (or at least that I can tell).

Do I need to call the vet? Anything I can or should be doing? I feel so bad for the little guy!

Awww, our mini dachshund is the same age and boy, do these guys have sensitive tummies! Our vet said she thinks they might be the most sensitive of any breed, and I believe her!

Do you think he go into something? Has he had any new treats or foods? I know my dh gave Beanie some sort of all natural jerky stick that caused the most disgusting diarreah and mucus poops for like 3 days. We had a ton of trouble with his tummy until we started feeding raw, so I really feel you.

I would probably watch him closely, make sure he has plenty of water and if he isnt' better tomorrow I'd take him to the vet.

Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

I might call the vet, but would probably hold off on taking him in unless he hasn't been vaxed for parvo. If he's vaxed for parvo I would probably watch and wait.

I'd do the same as the previous poster. If he's been vaxed for parvo ... watch and wait. However, if it doesn't let up within 48 hours, I'd definitely take him into the vet.

He's had his parvo vax, so I'm giving it overnight to see how he's doing. He's still acting off -- quiet/sleepy and looks kind of sad. Hopefully, he'll feel better with some more rest.

Hope he's better today!

He seems a little better overall. He was more playful this morning, so that was a good sign. I'm going to try feeding him later this morning and see how he does with that. Lucky for him, I'm also feeling sick today so I'm home for a while to keep an eye on him.
