funny thing to see this thread today, as i woke up this morning thinking about this. I am having a hard time thinking of something good. DP loves presents and expects good ones from me, so I need to find something perfect. So far the only two ideas I have (all the supplies to get starting homebrewing beer and a new tv- the picture tube on the set in his den is going out and he keeps having to beat it to make the colors right) are out of my price range- but Im thinking of finding a way to afford something big like this. or i might look into ordering more Hallmark Star Trek christmas tree ornaments for his collection. I finished his STar Wars collection but we only have a few Star Trek ones. He'd love to have DS9 and the Defiant and he needs Worf too....
looking forward to seeing other ideas.

i always try to do something related to the kids...the first father's day i made him a little scrapbook of pictures of DS (funny, creative pics mostly).
2nd year i did a picture of him and DS walking (from behind) framed with a poem about how DS will be walking in his footsteps, etc
3rd year i did a scrapbook of DS's entire year - one picture for each month, with little descriptions/stories
4th year i didn't do squat.
:
last year i did 5 pictures in a single frame - the kids DS and DD1 were each holding a letter (there were more than one pic per kid LOL) and they spelled out "DADDY"
so this year i'd like to incorporate Riley into that, but i'm not sure how to make it fun and interesting. plus, my camera is freakin broken so i probably can't do something NEW with pictures, i'd have to use a pic i already have. and those kinda suck.

I just realized that we're almost always traveling on Father's Day, as we will be this year. Dh has a professional conference about the same time every year; dd and I usually go with him and make a family vacation of it. I've probably still got cards that I bought and forgot in previous years....
Maybe t-shirts for the girls, with something about "Daddy" on them. Dh would like that. Then when we get home, I can get a sitter for dd1, and we'll go out for a romantic dinner, infant in tow!

I'm making crab & swiss melts for breakfast, at his request. Then he said he wants to just have a quiet family day at home. A little gaming, maybe a trip to the park.
I wanted to get him a t-shirt from one of our favorite blogs, but they sold out of his size already... I have another idea but won't say it here on the off chance he reads my posts.
I thought about getting myself something pretty for nighttime.
Not sure I can really justify it though. I'd like to use the excuse that he's sick of looking at the three pretty bras I already have, but just last week he complimented me on the "new" lacy one I've been wearing for three or four months.

For Easter, my mom gave me a new nightgown--which I helped pick out. It's stretchy and has a deep vee neck and a really pretty pattern. Everyone around here likes it, husbands and nursing preschoolers!I'd love a pretty new bra or two. I've been in utilitarian beige and black nursing bras for way too long. I was thinking this morning about demi-cups and whether they'd be easy to nurse with...

He just has a day for him. We let him sleep in, go eat lunch where he wants, hit the book store. I even go to the comic book store WITHOUT complaining!

I guess in my mind every day is like father's day. I think it would be a total mind-flip to let him just actually be a father all day on father's day, no breaks, oh and then give him an overpriced card with someone else's sentiments in it.

My husband and older daughter used to hang out in the bedroom and watch me get dressed after my shower every morning. Mostly I was flattered, but sometimes I just wanted a few minutes of privacy instead of daily breast ogling. As for father's day... I don't know. Usually a card and a small gift or a lunch/dinner out. I'll have to think about this...

ugh, I'm trying not to be a shrew, but my first reaction to that is "that's how ever day is for him anyway". I so envy that he gets to sleep in and STTN (after all he has to WORK the next day), then when he does get up he gets to pee, then have some water, then make breakfast without interruption (after all he hasn't eaten yet how is he supposed to deal with his children), then go to the gym (all he wants to do is be able to work out every day shrew wife), then come home and shower and eat lunch and get ready for work! If there are still 30-60 min left THEN he can spend time with one of the two children. Whew! Didn't mean to turn that into a total vent.

After 6 years of yelling at him on fathers day for needing to spend time with the person that MADE him a father, I gave up. He always complains that he never gets to do what he wants to but Im beat so he can take this day!! I really envy his ability to sleep in, READ, spend an hour working out and then another hour getting ready and eating breakfast.
But guess who is considered superhuman by every single person in our life because of my unfaltering dedication to family? I am! hehe

I need to be creative this year because I don't have money to spend on anything. We're really tight right now and I'm trying to be super positive about it because I know this upsets dh so I don't want to bring him down further than he already is.
Can't clean, just yet... Its taking a bit longer to recover this time. Although the soreness has finally gone away. Couldn't say that yesterday.
Got to get the Becco back (loaned it to a friend) because if I could clean, being that father's day is the 21st of June - I should be ok by then, I need that becco. Dd is plastered to me ALL THE TIME. Putting her down is like truning on the scream switch. She HAS TO BE NEXT TO ME ALL THE TIME! I've gotten quite talented with my restroom breaks.
I'm no good at making something so its got to be...
I guess, I'll just not ask him for any favors, and not complain. He has been doing an aweful lot for me lately. He really tries, and for that I didn't tear him apart for leaving all my clothes in the wash for three days. That washer was PACKED with every bit of summer clothes I own and EVERYTHING reeeked with mildew. I was naked (except underwear) all day yesterday. I had to separate the clothes in three washes and washed each load at least 3 times. It was maddening.

I took the girls in for pictures at jcp today. We just got the $7.99 package - 1 pose. The coupon was for free sitting fees and a free enhanced 8x10 which I had "Daddy's Girls" printed on. We got 2 8x10s, 2 5x7s, 4 3.5x5, and 16 wallets. Not bad for $8+tax
If anyone wants that coupon, email me and I'll forward it to you. Expires 7-2.

I've decided on a gift. I'm going to print the massive backlog of digital photos. If he's lucky, I might get some into an album :P
I tried to print them all when I was pregnant, but accidentally uploaded the wrong file size/resolution and printed almost 200 low-res crappy photos. Then I did just 12 as a test- they looked terrific. And never got back to finish the original ones.
