Looks like today is the day!

My water broke around 1:30 a.m. Been sleeping between infrequent and not all that strong contractions. But I've got this awful cough that is DRIVING ME CRAZY!! I was hoping it would be gone by the time I started labor but its still here going nice and strong. I"m going back to bed and try to sleep as long as I can--I know I've got a lot of work ahead of me today!

Oh and as encouragement to those of you still waiting--just before I went to bed last night I was in a crappy mood b/c I haven't really been having any real prelabor signs and I'm due tomorrow. I've had some here and there but not anything that couldn't have gone on for another week or so. And then bam, lol, the old water breaks an hour after I went to bed!

Good luck!

(I was a grumpy mess for the two days before my water broke. Coincidence? When we drove to the hospital, Dh goes "Well, THAT explains why you've been so grumpy for two days! Your hormones were getting ready!" LMAO)

Still pregnant. Contractions are good and strong--1.5 mins long but not getting into a good pattern! I just woke up from a nap so I'm back on my feet and ready to get this show on the road. I am a little frustrated that things don't seem to be moving along as fast as i had hoped. Thanks for the well wishes!

Good luck mama! I always noticed my contractions strengthening in early/late evening, including when I went into labor, so hopefully if yours don't get stronger before then, that'll do it, right? :

Alright, well maybe tomorrow is the day, lol. Still not getting those contractions coming close enough but man are they nice and strong! Baby is doing fine and so am I so we'll just be hanging out unless I get a fever or something. This is so not how I pictured my labor starting!

Ugh. Still no baby and contrax are still not close enough together. Very frustrating. But Baby is doing great and I'm not running a fever so we are going to hang out and see what happens. TMI--having lots of pink discharge but that's been going on since my water broke. I'm getting a little weary though--mentally and physically since I'm up monitoring the baby with the doppler, taking my temp, peeing, and/or having a contraction that I can't lie down thru. Mentally, I'm just ready for this to be over with. I'm not even to the hard part of labor yet--or as our midwife said, maybe THIS will be the hard part

Just wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts! Hopefully this is the hard part for you, and that baby gets here soon!

Update :)

Baby girl #4 arrived late Saturday evening! Penelope Jane (Penny) 7.8lbs 19inches long.

We ended up transferring to the hospital a few hours before she was born. My water had been broken for 60+ hours and our midwife heard a little decel that worried us all (I only wanted to stay home if everything was PERFECT). We decided to go in while things were still good--no fever for me, baby doing well, etc. Wanted a good reception at the hospital if you know what I mean. We just could NOT get my labor to keep going. I kept going into labor--good contractions-- and then it would just crap out. That morning I was in very nice labor for about 6 hours and it just...stopped. I was exhausted from trying to get labor going, monitoring my temp, checking fetal heart tones every 1-2 hours, very little sleep, etc. And I started to just feel like we should go in. Can't explain it.

Funny thing--my labor ramped up on the way to the hospital!! I was 6-7 cm by the time we got there and then like an hour later I was 7-8. But I was so stressed out by being there. I had none of the comfort measures that I had counted on--pool, shower, birth ball, etc. The lights were bright. I was standing but stuck on the fetal monitor and the I.V. The nurse was great but the doc wasn't the most sensitive and he would not allow to me deliver in any position but flat on my back (I can't lie down during contractions--it kills me). I had this horrible pain in my butt and leg that would not go away in between contractions--I'm thinking it was a muscle strain or something b/c it's still kind of sore. Anyway, I ended up getting an epidural and I'm glad I did. We ended up turning the delivery room into a big party with several friends and family members including my 2 bigger girls (7 and 5 yrs old). It freaked the L&D staff out but I stood my ground and said it was my birth and I wanted my people there. They didn't really like it but they were tolerant and that's fine. There were no other interventions whatsoever and Penny boogied her way out a few hours later after me pushing thru two contractions.

So I got my second VBAC and my fourth little girl--we hadn't know what gender she was beforehand! It was a good experience but reminded DH and I of why we love homebirth so much!
