So glad I am not the only one that lets my kids have NutriGrain bars sometimes! They're not THAT bad... lots of HFCS but also whole grain, so it could be worse. At my mom's house, when we visit, she makes sure to have Froot Loops just for them, since I won't buy them at home. Nothing like a bowl of artificially-colored sugar for breakfast. :

Homemade coconut yogurt??? Wow, I am not pregnant and that just induced a traumatic craving!! I have no experience making homemade yogurt, but maybe you could tell me how you made THAT. Because it sounds DIVINE. :

Yesterday was not a fantastic food day. I didn't really cook, except to fry some potatoes, because I was making jam all day and that's enough time in the kitchen for me.

breakfast: boiled eggs (my neighbor's chickens) with black pepper, local strawberries cut up, and the kids had some toast (my bread) with butter and (yes, strawberry!) jam (freshly made and still a little warm)

snack: more strawberries

lunch: homemade yogurt with more strawberries, green salad, and peanut butter sandwiches on my bread; DD1 was at school where they don't allow peanut butter, so she had cheese in her sandwich

snack: crackers and cheese for the kids, and just cheese for me; more strawberries

I don't know what DH ate all day. He packs for himself.

dinner: cold leftover chicken, green salad with oil and balsamic vinegar, fried potatoes; more strawberries for dessert

This time of year, we eat mostly greens (lettuce of various kinds, argula, spinach, kale), radishes, strawberries, eggs, and peas, because that's what's available locally. I avoid the supermarket unless I have no choice, and my stores from last fall are running low. Even my potatoes are all sprouted and gross. Our menu is more interesting when our CSA gets going, our gardens are producing more, and the farmer's markets are booming.
