Bead Swap Group Info!! (PLEASE STICKY ME)

Alright everyone I set up a group through Yahoo. If you are interested in taking part in this please PM me your adress so I can send you an invite, otherwise go here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jan2010BeadSwap
You can join from now to Aug. 1st 2009 when the swap will be taking place.
Feel free to join now, or wait the choice is yours. Anyone in our DDC is invited to join!! The group is set up on an approval basis so PLEASE Include your screen name in your join request. I don't want to miss any one.

As mentioned before the swap will take place in Aug 2009, all information regarding rules, requirments and where to send will be available through the group.

As I have a history of loss as do many other mamas on this board I will be making a few different admins to the group. Also if you choose not to join until you hear your LO heart beat and pass that magic 12 week mark that is perfectly fine.

I know its early. But I was so upset I didn't get to participate in my last DDC's bead swap that I simply can't wait to do one this time around. (we had even went out and bought bead making supplies)

I loved the bead swap in my July 2007 DDC.

Jools, a birth bead swap is when we all go out and get beads that are important to us somehow (for some, it might symbolize something about birth, for others, they're just eye-catching and pretty). There are some practicalities that need to be sorted out (a bead hole size is important; last time I bought string that fit our guidelines, but some of the beads- as pretty as they were- did not fit on it) but essentially we all send a self-addressed envelope that is pre-paid (I did this by having the postal employee weigh my beads, and just guessed it would be about that heavy) to a person who is willing to sort and mail all of the beads to all of the participants. Then, we all get to make a pretty birth necklace to wear while laboring and birthing, and we know that each woman who contributed a bead is thinking about/praying for us, and we can feel that support.

I've always wanted to do this BUT...can c-section moms participate? Obviously, no labor for me...but it would still be nice!

Labor schmabor...I'd say that anybody bringing a new kid in the world is worthy of cool beads made with love.

Yay! So many replies! So exciting! And Yes, Marie, anyone can join. Its a collection of love and bonding between each of us as we bring new life into this world. EVERYONE can join, even if you live over seas - don't let that stop you!!!

In some ways I figure if we start now that gives everyone time to find or make the beads they like for the swap.
