Well I assume I'd have to lie to them somehow as even though they are legal now, the majority of MW's weren't certified at the time I gave birth.

Honestly, the climate around here is a bit chilly. In fact, when it was leaked around work that I was doing a HB, I was very surprised that I remained working. That was a great support group compared to the rest of the culture I grew up in.

If your neighbors are a-holes and have called police/CPS on your noise level before, then I say go ahead and call the police the day you go into labor. Let them know what your neighbors have done previously and that you are in labor. Nothing more. If you have a support team with you (more than your hubby), I wouldn't even worry about it. Let the cops show up and tell them you are in labor and just fine.

As for the note, I think the note on the door is a good idea.

Let me add add that homebirths are illegal here so I leads my line of thinking.

Correction: Homebirth are not illegal anywhere. It is midwifery that is illegal in your state. Homebirths are perfectly legal.

In 30ys of practice, it has not happened, but I totally think it would be the bomb!

you know, this NEVER occurred to me at all in any of the births I've either had, or been to. Naevity, I suppose. But no one has called the cops cuz of noise, only one had CPS called cuz someone peeked in the windows while a homebirth was happening, and it was mine. Rather rude of them, ya think?
