I tackled my kitchen today. Our kitchen is small, without a lot of cabinets and storage for all our stuff, so I did a little purging and a lot of rearranging. Hubby agreed to tackle the cleaning, as the floor really needs done and the counters have a lot of stains that vinegar and lemon juice just aren't cutting lately.

I've been doing a little bit of work in dd's room every day. We're rearranging her nursery to fit all the bulky toys that she's been given. While she rarely sleeps in there, I'm hoping when it's done it can be a room that she can grow in, and even if we move I can just pick up the organization and decor and not have anything to work on.

Today I "decluttered" the two full laundry baskets that have been sitting in the upstairs hallway. Later today I'm going to tackle my closet.

Between last night and this morning I have cleaned out our filing cabinet. Step 2 is to take the entire paper box full of shred items somewhere.

Feeling good about knowing what we have in the file cabinet now!

Let's see. This morning I decluttered a kitchen cabinet and one shelf of a bookshelf.

Up next: the coat closet! It's time to clear out all the heavy winter coats.

In the midst of a major kitchen clean around here! We had a major flood last month and ALL the flooring on our main level was removed along with all the baseboards and toekicks (cabinets) and many walls from the knees down. WHAT A MESS! The contractors finished yesterday and I've been washing every single item in our kitchen ever since. The layer of mortar dust and drywall dust (thick white dust that shows on everything) is seriously everywhere. Ugh.

Meanwhile, during all the cleaning, I've been culling an item or two from each area.

We also put our pegboards back up in the project room closet last night and got all the tools back up on it. Whew! Donated an old pair of lineman's pliers from that project since we don't need two of those.

Today I'm tackling the tupperware/rubbermaid container cabinet. It's a mess and we don't need all of these random plastic boxes.

Me too. Actually all the dishes in the kitchen but that's the part I'm on right now. I'm taking a snack and computer break and heading back to it.

I unwrapped all of my grandmother's antique china, took pictures, and wrapped it back up. Then I stuck it in the van. We'll drop it off tomorrow. We'll never use it. My mother and grandmother died long before my children were born (and I have no memories of either using this china). It's pretty, but it is so totally not us.

I am spending another weekend decluttering in the sunshine Clean Sweep style. This time I'm cleaning out the game and craft cabinet and the 'miscellaneous' cabinet in the kitchen. Yep. Our miscellaneous drawer expanded into a darn cabinet! :

I went through the bookshelves and cleaned out lots of books I have no interest in anymore and rearranged things. And alphabetized the kids' movies. And then went through the huge case of cd's we have and found a few to go in my yard sale pile.

I'm on the fence about culling some dishes/glassware.

I started on the laundry room today. I pulled everything off of our shelving units - a lot since we keep our games in there (we love playing games) and it also houses linens and sewing stuff. We'll (I'll?) be putting down a new floor, priming and painting the walls, and reorganizing the room. Stuff going back in will be totally decluttered. This may take me a few days, but it will be worth it. I was going to hold off on the laundry room while I tackle a few other projects, but then I walked in to put some laundry on and stepped on game pieces that my 23 month old left out. So, it got bumped up.

I'm doing the bedroom.

I regularly declutter, so, it's mostly maintenance. However, last night I pulled out my craft stuff to finish DD's birthday dress, so, that's kind of spurred me into a maintanance/organization spree in there. I'm almost done, and have found some stuff to get rid of that got shoved into a bin last time . Freeing up the bin to store winter blankets/bedclothes. Which freed up behind the bed, which is where I'm now storing toys/clothes for Katie to grow into. Which freed up my closet shelf. I was very happy to discover that I honestly have no clothes in the closet to purge - I wear everything in there.

Also, I did just do bookshelves and DD's videos. We love books. Have hundreds, but, I try to take one off of each of "my" shelves (or equivalent, so, a dozen at a time) every few months. I find that very difficult, but, I did it today. :
