Thread Starter
ummm.... way behind on starting this new thread. The old one is getting a little long.

Haven't posted much lately, as there's not much to report.

Parker is growing, and we have a ped appt next week. Our first round of shots so we can start day care the end of the month. Our Ped is really great, and has an alternate (slowed) sched. set up. It's great!

He's starting to fidget when he nurses... it's cute. He wiggles his wrist and arm and rubs the skin by my collarbone. I'm sure it WON'T be cute when he starts pinching LOL.

I think he's in the middle of a growth spurt - was up more than usual the last couple nights to nurse. A little restless afterwards, not wanting to go right back down to sleep. We're in a pretty great routine of bedtime at 8:30pm..... he usually sleeps until 12:30-1am. After nursing, he'll go back down until 4-4:30 and then up at 7:30.

okay... gotta run... he's fussing and sounds like he needs some more sleepytime.....

Yeah, not much to report either. Julian is going through a growth spurt I think because all I've been doing is nursing. I've been taking a walk most days now, trying to lose a couple more lbs so I can at least stop wearing my maternity pants and move into my fat clothes, the scale isn't cooperating though. : And I'm with Nancy about the jiggling butt.

Add MIL coming over and going "Well he's just a little snacker" EACH AND EVERY TIME and I'm right there with you.

Sorry, I'm right now because DS just pooped while chilling in his swing in the other room and I heard it in here! Obviously I'll have to be back later.

Same here. And then he wakes up while being burped, wants to eat more, and dozes off almost immediately again. No wonder I do nothing but nurse all day long.

DS keeps asking Terran if he needs a "booby snack".

I POAS yesterday afternoon and there was no trace of a second line, thank goodness.

Still jiggling here too! I did something crazy, went to Trader Joes for my full weekly shopping trip with my 3 youngest. Luckily Ramsay stayed asleep in the maya wrap the whole time, but my other 2 were challenging!

My baby is on his own schedule too, which is funny b/c I could care less about schedules &I have never had any expectations of a baby sleeping thru the night. He takes 2 long naps a day, either on me or in our bed. Then he wakes up ready to party at 5 pm, eats constantly ( that part kind of sucks and goes down at 11 pm. He sleeps until 4 am and eats once, goes back to sleep & then up at 7 am. And starts the whole thing over.

X posted in Diapering

We've been using the sposies I got at a baby shower. (DH is military and not going to be home for another 2 weeks and the idea of extra laundry was overwhelming) However, when we took our bath today I noticed that everywhere the diaper had touched him was bright red. (Stupid mommy, no wonder he screams during diaper changes again) We had been using Huggies but ran out and started using the Pampers Swaddlers... No more of that!

I have a really good stash of cloth dipes. However, that's pretty much all I have. I have a few inserts (of all sorts. Some bamboo and something else) I also have 3 bumgenius 3.0 right now. I have a couple of the nylon underwear covers...but MIL got a medium and it's still a bit too big. I don't have any other covers and nowhere close sells them (trust me, I looked pre-baby) What to do? I thought about using the prefolds and flats as inserts in the BG but it makes it WAY too bulky. He's in a BG right now but that won't last long...he pees very often and a lot (he nurses very frequently still)

I do want to start EC but I'm living with the ILs for the time being and am doing the "single mom" thing most of the time.

ANY advice you can offer would be great. I'm so new at this and trying not to stress out.

I've never used a BG but apparently people have success with using microfiber cleaning cloth type things and just folding them as inserts for pocket dipes- those can be cheap and are pretty easy to find.

You can pretty easily make wool covers if you have old sweaters (haha, I say "easily" but believe me I haven't managed to make any since baby was born). really you could probably make a few that you just pin over a pinned or snappied prefold, at least to use around the house or something when other covers are drying out. You do have to lanolize them (can buy liquid lanolin or supposedly use the lasinoh for breastfeeding).

EW, while I was trying to type that Phoebe spit up on my chest, and it all slipped down my bra in bewteen my breasts! I also have dried spitup in BOTH of my two braids. And many other places I am sure.

Lisuex, your baby's "schedule" sounds a lot like mine! Its funny and really not actually all that bad. She's very lively right now but will probably have another long sleep, then up until past my bedtime! However, she also goes a LONG stretch (for a newborn) at night. I think I am going to try to work with her this summer in the mornings. I already have a tentative plan for July for childcare for my son... I am kind of excited about the prospect of a baby who actually naps and chills out enough for me to work some with her.

(september she'll have to start with some part-time childcare but I'm excited to put it off a bit).

I've been overwhelmed all week. My DP just worked his last day today, though. He is officially unemployed, which we have been expecting. DP was working for his father and we've known for several months that there was no work lined up after the current job.

I am glad to have DP at home now, though, as it is past time to start packing for our move home to New England - in a few weeks. We haven't even started. I can't imagine finding a renter for this house in its current state, either.

I think my lack of interest in food is killing my supply.
It's totally halting and I can't seem to get it back.

Caleb's got his own "schedule" too. 6:30 am up and eat- back to sleep till 9- eat then wide awake till about noon eat then cat naps for an hour or so- 2ish eats and then we nap together- 5-6 dinner time and then a mix of cat naps and wakeful till about 9ish eat and usually sleep (that's changing over the last few days to being awake again till i go to bed and nurse him to sleep-which is between 10 & 11) he stirs to eat about 3am and then about 4:30- he's very good about falling back to sleep after eating. He has had this schedule since about 2 weeks old! And If we get off it in the eve he gets fussy- he's very much a creature of routine.

Looking at his I think he's awake about 7-8 hrs a day. i am trying not to just let him sleep/doose (sp) all day and have started to have more "play" time w/him. We love to dance together- Hes great, he lets me lead!

haha
I just weed-whacked with Z in the Bjorn.
He slept.

Now he's in the crib.
I guess I know how to get him down for a nap now: yard work!

That sounds like my LO's schedule, except he only takes 1 long nap and other short naps in a carrier. But his bedtime is 11pm (yawn), one nurse at 4am, I wake at 5am or so as ODS wakes up early, then LO wakes around 7am.

After a rough week, I think the reflux meds have started to work, and we barely had any screaming yesterday.

Has anyone used babylegs yet? My LO has cold feet constantly, but sockss won't stay on. I have been wanting to try babylegs, but was wondering if they'd be huge on him?

Find something you like to eat (even if it's ice cream or Cheetos) and eat that first. Sometimes just getting something in your stomach will cue hunger... That's what I had to do right after giving birth. I ate a lot of Cheetos! I felt bad about not being nutritionally sound...but it was all I wanted and I was desperate for calories.

I'll update more later (we just got up and he only sits in his swing so long first thing in the morning) but last night was great! And I should have started CDing earlier

River has been fussing a lot more the last several days, and I think it's because her tummy hurts. I've been eating dairy and coconut a lot more than usual, so I'm going to try eliminating those things for two weeks and see what happens.

I'm pretty much jiggly all over. My weight loss has slowed down, but fortunately I'm just now ready to start being a lot more active. I'm so looking forward to feeling strong and in shape again. I have a history of weight/food issues (like a lot of women do ) but being pregnant and not stressing about eating what I wanted really helped me get a lot more sane about that stuff. Now I just have to see if I can maintain that while simultaneously losing a lot of weight. I started to worry about losing weight this morning, but then I remembered that I'm going to try really really hard not to put a bunch of food and body issues on River like my mom did on me. (I know she was just doing her best, but I want my best to be a little better, you know?) So for now I'm focusing on enjoying being active and enjoying my food, in reasonable amounts, because that's how I want River to learn to be. Anybody else still working on losing weight? How's it going for you guys?

Part of my problem is wanting to lose these last 20 pounds.
Historically, I don't eat food.
I fear my milk is gonna quit.
At least, I got a solid month in....
This kid is just so big.
He outgrew my best efforts.

Re: weight and body image....

I am only 5 pounds above what I was when I got my BFP : but my weight loss stalled out about 2 weeks PP. In addition, none of my clothes come even close to fitting--shirts or pants. In all fairness, I don't think these clothes fot last summer either. After ODS was born, I kept on an extra 13 pounds, although I was *very* tiny before and think I need that weight for nursing. We were living in the UK until last July so I didn't need summer clothes and was wearing a small spring wardrobe that fit. As soon as we moved here, I got pregnant again (ODS was 11 months), so I just bought some summer maternity clothes. So now, I have nothing that fits.....and am jiggly all over.

I've hit a plateau weight wise. Stuck at 6 lbs over prepregnancy weight from this time, which is 16 lbs over where I was before the first pregnancy, which was still over my ideal weight.

I don't mind being rounded but I don't want to keep this extra weight- I'm not tall and I don't think it is good for me either.

Once I hit 6 weeks (tomorrow!) I'll start mowing the lawn, etc.

Nancy, I'm sorry you're still having supply issues. I remember reading one person's advice on that, which was to strip LO down to a diaper and mom down to go topless and spend all day in bed snuggling and nursing because the skin to skin and more nursing would help stimulate milk supply. I know that you prefer the bottle, but will he still nurse? Maybe if he would nurse some too then your supply would go up? I"m sorry your appetite isn't back yet... I wish I could send you some of mine! I want to eat nonstop, which isn't so good...
