CD on vacation: WWYD?

We have 2 vacations coming up this summer. Both will be spent with family members in facilities where we have our own washer and dryer. Both trips are for a week or more. I really want to CD on these trips. We use Charlies Soap, so we'd have to ask that everyone else use it as well. We'd provide it for everyone, no problem. I would consider using Purex again for the trips, but it really has made a big difference with DS's eczema.

Do you think it is okay for us to ask this of our family members? Have you found that others are okay with CD laundry or does it freak people out? I'll be asking them ahead of time if it is okay with them, but wanted to get some perspective first.

When dh and I went home for Christmas we stayed with my aunt. My ds was CD'd and I just asked her if it would bother her if we used her machine to wash them. She lives alone so does laundry at the most once a week so I also offered to pay the difference in her water bill. She was fine with it and it didn't actually change her bill at all!

In my experience- no one will mind using your soap- but some people do freak out about poo in their washing machine. I've washed diapers at my mom's house and at a friend's while traveling- but both accept that when there are babies, poo often goes through the machine anyway due to explosions on regular clothes. In my experience, people who have never had kids are the most likely to freak out.

Good luck with your trip! Though I've traveld with cloth at times, I've also found that some vacation situations call for a week of sposies to keep me sane (or half and half), do try to be sure you will have the time and space to do your diaper laundry without it making you nuts.
