Problem getting exemption in Florida

Thread Starter
My husband was going to go down to the health department today so we could get exemptions for our youngest two because we need to enroll DD1 in Kindergarten. He called ahead to see if he had to drive to the one 30 minutes from his office or if he could stop by the one 10 minutes away. They informed him that THAT form they only do on Thursdays, during certain hours and only at one location. Can they do this? I mean, all they really have to do is sign the form (I know this because we already got one for our son), so why do they only do this certain days?

Help!

Were they pulling the same thing when you got the exermption for your son?

That's the first thing I would verify, if they have changed things, there may be an issue that can be dealt with.

They may be able to do this because they are not denying you the exemption, they just have limited times they will give it. I was told the director of the health dept has to sign it, and here in Duval County, there is only one health dept you can get the exemption and only ONE person has the "authority" to sign it, the director. You can try calling the Florida State Dept of Immunization to verify if they can limit the access so severely.

Here's a link to the dept and it lists the contact person by county,

Ours had to be signed by the RN that administers vaccinations. Could it be that Thursday is the only day she is in that office?
