Looking for MD to sign medical exemption for school

I live in Kansas and am looking for an MD who would sign the medical exemption needed for school entrance. The MD does not have to be from Kansas. If anyone knows of a few names that I could contact, I would greatly appreciate it!

I seriously doubt that you will find an MD that will sign such a form. If he did, it can only be for one vaccine that your child may have had a reaction to and it would have to be reviewed every year.

Why don't you do a religious exemption? It does not have to be based in a formal religion but can be based on a personal belief, a home religion if you will.

It's kind of a complicated story. Our school is a private Catholic school and they are not allowing religious exemptions. I don't agree with it but would rather try and just get the MD exemption first before opening up a can of worms and fighting with those in charge. I actually found an MD who did for me but won't for a friend so it is very frustrating!

I don't know if your exemption will hold up for any length of time. It may be up for review in a year and then what?

Of course you can always find religion when you need it.

Even a catholic school has to accept a religious exemption. We each interpret religion in our own way.

I totally agree with you. It's just kind of become a political game here. Politics and ugliness can be found anywhere, even in something really good. So basically since we are members of the church here, which we are glad to be and wouldn't be sending our kids there if we weren't,then we can't just make pretend we have a different religion. There is nothing in our teachings that are either directly opposed to vaccinations or directly saying that everyone MUST get them. So here, they are using the broad language in their favor 'for the sake of the whole community' type of thing.
I don't agree with it and think that there is a legal way around it but that is expensive and time consuming and probably emotionally draining also. So my plan A is to find an MD for my friend this year and for us if this MD doesn't sign ours again in the future (since yes it would have to be done every year!).

Do they accept any government funding of any kind, even for milk? If they accept any funding they are required to accept the exemption. It does not mean you practice a different religion. Even Catholics interpret the Bible and its relation to vaccines differently. Seriously, a medical exemption only works for the vaccine that caused an injury and the injury must be documented ad registered with the state. Also, many states require that medical exemptions are certified bby the state, regardless of whether the school will accept it.

I cannot believe the Church forces them with the ingredients in them. I am Catholic but in the Traditional Latin Mass and we are encouraged not to have the poisons in our bodies.

Don't know of any good MDs who would sign for that. Would an ND work? They tend to be more anti-vax. If you need Catholic religious reasons, I can get you those too. The Catholic Church is very anti-abortion. Why are they forcing people to get vaccines created from aborted fetuses? Why are they forcing people to support companies that will use their money to give to the abortion industry or to perform research on aborted fetuses? These are double effect at best, and if the Church does not want to outlaw them altogether, then it should at least be left to an individual's conscience. Personally, there is absolutely no way I could allow my child to receive a vaccine made from aborted fetuses. http://www.cogforlife.org/fetalvaccines.htm

Slightly OT but maybe this article by a Catholic Bishop would be of interest to the OP. It isn't completely anti-vax but maybe could be of some use to someone Catholic going for a religious exemption.

thank you

thank you for the great discussion.
I think at this point, I am trying to decide how and who to talk to in our church to get something changed about this. It is a very very tight and closed off subject but I agree and know I am in the right with this one! The vatican has not come out with any decision either way. The only statement they made was that a person CAN use the exemption because of aborted fetus parts in the vaccine but they should consider the consequences of not vaccinating and how it may impact a whole community etc. Now, of course the Vatican oversees the whole world so there are places where vaccines may have more of a place. But here, in the good ol' USA it's quite a different story I believe.

Well for those of you who are Catholic, please pray for me! There is a pretty big community of us who are devoutly practicing Catholics who are also opposed to using vaccines but also want to enjoy the Catholic schools for our children. So if I do get something done, it could be for the good of many of us.

What is an ND? We can use an MD or an DO

SO only Catholic prayers work? Im a pretty conservative Christian and I pray for people of all denominations < and non believers too> I think you limit yourself by asking for only catholic prayers

JBaxter: Of course not! My apologies! I hope you was asking those who are Catholic to especially pray since they might have a better understanding of how hard it can be to find the right people to talk to with all the different levels of authority etc. But yes, please any prayers!

Have you tried Dr. Sherri Tenpenny? http://www.newswithviews.com/Tenpenny/sherri1.htm

How about sending you positive energy from an Athiest.

Anyway, sending you positive energy...this has to be frustrating, but it needs to be done. Consider your community and fight for your rights!
