fructose sugar?

I bought this in the bulk section of my market today, thinking I could add it to my oatmeal flax cookies instead of regular sugar. After all, I thought it must have been the same as the sugar that's in fruit. I've also heard it has a lower impact on insulin levels.

Nooow I'm finding all this stuff on the internet, good and bad.

Do any of you mamas know more about it? I just baked some cookies with it, should I give them to my toddler?

Fructose has had the fiber removed from it, hence the liver must do all the work for processing it.
You will find it rec. for diabetics all over the place, but since a diabetic already has a compromised liver, its super bad news for them.
Fructose should be left the way it is naturaly, in fruit

Isolated fructose is not a good thing for the body. A recent study has given more evidence of that: fructose study

I should have added that if you are looking for a better sweetner for the occasional treat, then use Rapadura or Sucanat.
Both are truly raw cane sugars, that have been allowed to dehydrate without high heat, rather then the refining process that white, brown and in the raw sugars got through.
Depending on where you live you can get it quite cheaply through Azure Standard. Otherwise, look in your health food store, or the health section of your grocery store.
The other alternatives, are to use coconut sugar, which can be found in Asian groceries, or Maple sugar.
